When Perseverance sent images of water-formed rocks from Mars, NASA needed to identify the source of water to understand its disappearance. NASA sent a covert rover to Mars named Infinity to bring sample rocks back to examine. They did not expect a sentient being to be attached to the rover, a being that had been part of Mars for thousands of years.

Cheyava, a member of an alien race that was deposited on myriad other planets to conduct life-giving experiments, had dissipated all the water from Mars; she could produce water at will. While other superheroes and villains could manipulate water, she was the only one who could force hydrogen and oxygen to bind from the atmosphere into liquid form. She pulled water away from red planet when she found that life could not exist there.

She was curious about the planet that sent Infinity. What life did Earth possess? Cheyava had yellow scales flecked with hues of purple and blue. Her flowing silver hair accentuated her face, and her arms poked through the shimmery material common on her alien world. Her figure was hominid, as most intelligent life ultimately developed, but her alien ability to create water was the impetus necessary to create life on other planets.

On Earth, she was horrified to find that the water put there to sustain life was no longer viable. She began to restore water in barren areas first but found the Sun Goddess Arnonia was removing the water just as quickly; Arnonia wanted Earth to herself. Cheyava spent time in the Sahara first, selflessly creating oases throughout the desert. As she created them, life began to flourish in those areas again. She was determined to overcome Arnonia, but found humans had caused damage as well. Her task became her obsession.
