Star Gate, Dragon King's Court, Beast Forest.
Zhang Yongan looked at the open space surrounding the Star Gate. Numerous warriors had returned from the Beast Forest, resting here.
Heaps of monster carcasses lay scattered everywhere, along with the bodies of warriors who had perished there. The stench of blood filled the air.
Zhang Yongan's expression was impassive, a familiar sight.
Ten thousand soldiers were on duty here. Zhang Yongan had also served there for a time and had some acquaintances, but unfortunately, after more than a decade of fighting, most had died or been injured.
Later, Zhang Yongan grew increasingly aloof, unwilling to make new comrades, fearing the loss of a dear friend once again.
Thus, he no longer had any acquaintances in the 649th Army.
Without much lamentation, he headed towards the checkpoint.
He couldn't use electronic devices here, let alone fingerprinting.
So, he simply skipped that step. After all, since they were from human society, he just had to make sure they weren't aliens. The humans within the Star Gate differed from those on Blue Star. They had pointed ears and green pupils, somewhat resembling the elves in Western stories.
However, since they were not of our race, a meeting would naturally result in a life-or-death struggle. The humans on either side would never sit down to negotiate.
Zhang Yongan had fought for many years at the Magic City Star Gate, and had encountered very few aliens. After all, this was the territory of the Beast Dynasty, and the majority of them were orcs and demonic beasts.
He also knew some basic information about this continent.
Zhang Yongan was also unsure of its size.
What was known was that dynasties coexisted here. It was said that any one ninth-rank expert could establish a dynasty. Therefore, there were numerous human and orc dynasties. Although there were some frictions between them, the conflicts were not too ugly. After all, there was another race above them!
That was the Protoss.
The Protoss controlled the entire continent, forcing both the Human and Beast dynasties to obey their orders. Legend has it that the Protoss brought the spark of fire to the ancestors of both the Human and Beast races and guided them in establishing civilization, leading to its current scale.
It could be said that this was faith itself.
Hence, it's also called the God-Given Continent.
Because of the Protoss' control, even if there were friction between the dynasties, fighting could not break out.
The declaration of war against the humans of Blue Star was also the Protoss's intention!
After more than a decade of fighting, Zhang Yongan had the good fortune to meet a Protoss member. Like the aliens, Protoss members had human appearances, but their skin was paler, their stature was taller, and their strength was above the mid-level.
Unfortunately, Zhang Yongan's realm had remained too low for years. Although he had reached the peak of the Third Rank, he was still a low-level warrior, and naturally, he wasn't given access to important missions in the military.
After emerging from the checkpoint, Zhang Yongan gazed upon the Beast Forest before him, his eyes gleaming with a golden light.
Before, his strength was too low to find valuable treasures in this Beast Tribe Forest, nor did he dare venture forth freely.
But now, things were different. Compared to a few days ago, he had advanced two major realms.
Being at the early fifth level was already sufficient for venturing within this forest.
He took a deep breath and looked up at the sky. The time here was slightly off from that of Blue Star.
Twenty hours of daylight and twenty hours of darkness could cause some young warriors new to the alien continent to lose track of time.
But experienced warriors, like Zhang Yongan, who wore mechanical watches that displayed the date and time, could quickly adapt to the 40-hour clock of this alien world.
Zhang Yongan glanced up at the position of the sun in this world and roughly estimated the time in his mind.
"I've arrived just in time! Sixteen hours until dark."
Zhang Yongan had chosen this time to enter the star gate specifically because it would be daytime for the aliens, making both finding treasures and navigating the path much easier. The experience he'd acquired in the military could now be put to good use.
Zhang Yongan scoffed, "I thought I'd never need this experience again."
"I didn't expect that after so many days of not using it, I'm still so proficient in it."
"It seems like Heaven won't let me leave the alien battlefield."
Zhang Yongan had previously been depressed, wanting to find someone to marry, settle down in the new city of the Magic City, and spend his retirement in peace. How could he have dreamed of continuing his struggles on the alien continent?
One can only say that things are unpredictable.
This led to Zhang Yongan now doing things without making plans, without even considering what the future might hold. With so many variables, any plans would be in vain.
Back to the point.
He headed towards the forest. Not long after entering, he pulled out his old friend from his storage ring.
A dark long sword!
Having cleaned the blade yesterday, this dark long sword had helped him slay many demonic beasts, but he had never slain a mid-level demon.
He looked at the long sword in his hand and smiled, "This time, I will make you drink the blood of a mid-grade demon."
He slung the sword across his waist, then pulled out his notebook and drew a map based on the route he had recalled.
As a warrior, he naturally had a good memory, and since he had been deeply impressed by it, he naturally memorized it.
He put away his notebook and glanced in a certain direction: "I hope you won't disappoint me."
Finally, he sprinted towards a certain direction, his speed extremely fast and quite purposeful!
Some low-grade warriors nearby couldn't help but stare at Zhang Yongan's speed. To be able to move at such speed, he must be at least a mid-grade warrior.
A few people in the crowd exchanged glances, then retracted their greedy gazes.
At the service area, they had coveted Zhang Yongan's storage ring and had thought of killing him if he were a weakling.
Unexpectedly, he was a tough guy, so they had no choice but to give up.
Zhang Yongan shuttled through the forest.
The forests over thirty miles away were perfectly safe, so he didn't even need to avoid dangerous areas.
The forests near Zhenxing Pass had been visited by countless warriors. If the trees weren't of little value, they would have been uprooted.
Thus, if one wanted to obtain the valuables, they had to go deeper.
This was also the reason why the third-rank teachers at the school had tragically perished.
Soon, after running for forty or fifty miles, they could see traces of blood, but no demonic beasts or orcs appeared.
They did, however, discover some signs of warrior activity.
He rested briefly, ate a quick meal, and then rushed towards his destination.
The place he was heading to was still a hundred or two hundred miles away, extremely remote and impossible to find without a map.
The brothers who had discovered the place with him had also perished, meaning that he was the only one who knew the location.
It was quite dangerous there. Previously, with his third-rank strength, he wouldn't have dared to venture forth. But now, his early fifth-rank status allowed him to explore further within this forest.
In the surrounding forests within a few hundred miles, the strongest demon or orc was only at the sixth rank.
Despite being only at the sixth rank, the strongest was already quite powerful.
A few hundred miles further, it was the territory of the Jiao Dynasty. There would be orc cities and civilizations, while the forest before him was more like a buffer zone between the orc dynasty and Zhenxing Pass.
After gathering enough strength, he sprinted towards his destination.
As darkness fell.
Zhang Yongan glanced at the map in his hand, determined his location, and confirmed that the treasure land he had seen last time was just a dozen miles ahead!
