Ardae panned his scope and scanned the entire pit below. He noticed a massive number of heat signatures. He switched his scope to night vision and began to see the nightmarish creatures that had haunted him since Venus.
The Zyre army was mainly composed of thin robots dubbed “frames”. Frames were a miraculous design. They had long and slender bodies roughly seven feet tall. They were covered in green metal humans had come to call ironhide. Their legs were simply two long pieces of ironhide. Their chest was also made of the green metal, with a circular hole in the center, through which a dark red light shined. The red light was presumably their power source. Their arms, like their legs, were long and thin. Each arm had three long, sharp, finger-like claws. Their head was the most intriguing part of all. Unlike their body, it was large, heavy and round, like an oval. It was wider than their body. In the center of the oval was a small circular hole, almost eye like. Again, the dark
red light shined through it. Frames were foot soldiers, usually found in hordes of 10 or more. They attacked anything they detected, rushing their enemies, using their long claws to stab and slash. Ardae knew that getting seen would mean death.
The Zyre also had a regiment of sharpshooters named “rangers”. Their appearance was similar to the frames, though they didn’t have the claws or oval heads. One of their arms was in reality a sniper rifle. Their other arm had three long projections, often acting like a tri-pod stand to support the sniper arm. Their faces were human like, with two oval eyes, again sharing that red glow. Their right eye could project outward, like a cylinder. Ardae speculated this acted as a scope, to enhance the shooting abilities.
The final part of the Zyre army were giant robotic monoliths nicknamed “bulls”. These were massive. Easily over 15 feet tall, gigantic arms and legs, with four large cannons on their backs. One bull could effortlessly kill 100 hunters. Luckily, the Zyre ranks only had a few bulls.
As Ardea skimmed the pit, he didn’t notice any bulls. A feeling of relief eased through him. In total, he tagged 50 frames moving around the pit, with 10 rangers positioned along the edges scanning for enemies. The frames were rushing in and out of a cave-like structure in the pit’s center. They appeared to be carrying supplies. Ardea guessed that they were using the cave as a weapons cache. Scouting that cave would be his objective.
