Can AI write like Terry Pratchett?
Can AI write like Terry Pratchett?
Ladies, gentlemen, and beings of all kinds—human or Android—welcome to the world of short stories set in science fiction and fantasy! Today's episode will be a little unusual since, as a fan of science fiction, I find artificial intelligence to be both fascinating and terrifying. I reasoned that now would be the ideal time to put artificial intelligence to the test, given all the buzz about Chat GPT, Mid-Journey, and other AI breakthroughs. So let me share with you a narrative that was entirely written, spoken, illustrated, and animated by AI. Take a seat, unwind, and savor this wonderful work of literature!
A young guy by the name of Mr. Sydney once resided in the enormous city of Ant More Pork. Despite his lowly beginnings in the city's slums, which were full of poverty and crime, he had a desire of becoming something of himself and was eager to learn and explore the world's untold mysteries. Sydney came upon a weird store called "Eternal Enchantments" as he was exploring the busy streets. He met the elderly magician Rinsewind there, who was very optimistic about Sydney. They set out to create a wonderful invention that would transform the world together.
Sydney explored the city's delights while traveling there, seeing amazing beings like dwarfs, elves, goblins, and trolls and learning about their civilizations and way of life. The creation, a tiny silver ball with the ability to manipulate time, was displayed to the residents of Angmorpark on the day of the great unveiling. The sphere, however, became unstable as they employed it and eventually exploded, seemingly taking Sydney and Rinsewind with it. The orb and the gods are the only ones who know their fate, which is still a mystery.
I find the writing talents of AI fascinating and value its advancement in non-fiction industries like blogs and copywriting. However, this attempt to imitate the famed Terry Pratchett's style shows that AI has not yet attained the level of masterful storytelling in fiction writing as it falls short of matching his flair and wordplay.
AI has an impact on a variety of industries, including the arts. Concerns about AI-generated images are being raised, and lawsuits are being filed that question the usage of protected works as training material. Although technology has a lot of potential, it is vital to respect artists' rights and act ethically.
Certain industries, like voice acting, where AI-generated voices are growing more human-like, are threatened by the advancement of AI. But rather than completely rejecting AI, professionals, and artists can use technology as a tool to boost efficiency and creativity.
In conclusion, the rapid growth of AI is both exciting and unsettling. Adapting to AI and using it to one's advantage might open up interesting opportunities in a variety of creative sectors, even though some jobs may be affected. I, for one, look forward with great anticipation to what the future of artificial intelligence holds. I appreciate you joining me as we examine how AI is affecting narrative and the arts.
