"Call it Russia!"

The greatest heist in the history of the world

By Lana V LynxPublished 3 years ago 1 min read
Map of Russia during Catherine the Great's rule includes Ukraine

“Never mention that Russian princes collected taxes and delivered them personally to Mongol khans. Erase all references to Russia as an ulus of the Mongol empire!” Catherine the Great instructed Duke Shuvalov.

“But, Mother Empress, we have collected so many documents from Germany, France, Italy, China, and even Japan where Russia is called Moksel or Moskovite Princedom! As you ordered, we scouted them all over the world. We also have documents from Rus itself saying that Moksels are not the Slavic but Finnish tribes!”

“I thought Peter the Great destroyed them all?”

“Our Great Father Emperor Peter knew what history means. He only ‘copied’ the Konigsberg Chronicles to fake unification of the Kievan Rus and the Moscovite Kingdom, calling the ‘new’ land Russia. His genius was in taking the name ‘Rus’ away from Kiev and bestowing it onto Moscow as the new capital. But he did not dare to alter or destroy the originals.”

“Did you collect everything saying what true Rus was?”

“Yes, Mother.”

“Will it be possible to change Moksel to Russia?”

“No, Mother.”

“Then destroy everything and write a new history of Russia!”

And this, my friends, was the greatest heist: Hijacking Ukrainian people's identity and history.

True word. Yet is that not true of almost every aspect of civilization. Every one of these superpowers stole from somebody else. My people actually physically got stolen. It will never end it would seem.

  • Oh wow, this was so fascinating! Brilliant job!

Dear Lana ~ Miss You ~ Just want to say that my entire family escaped from Kiev during Pogroms ~ this popped the memory out in me. That's what's so nice about these interactions; we can relate to one another's writings, on the most part, through each other's offerings. Although mine are way too old fashion for the newbies - I'm just a StoryTeller. As a Lifetime Highly Scrutinized Legal-Biz Writer - now I do it just for fun; nothing more. I just wrote 'Swinging on a Star' with the June Graduates in mind - as to what they may be in for within the current 'job' market - just from my slant on so much of this nonsense going on; it has to affect all levels of learning. But, I'm trying to change my 'Style' to appeal to some of them, as you do. - This was fun and informative at the same time - Best, Jay
