Oh, Jaggar liked this game.
Taking care of old Foxtrotter for the Greyhand was boring work. He didn’t even get to hurt him.
But seeing his pretty witch stare at him with those fucking eyes across the street?
A treat indeed.
And she ran.
Oh, she was terrified now. Jaggar was delighted by this fact. He knew this was going to be fun.
Watching her run off, seeing that look in her eye…
She knew him. Yes, he’d fogged her memory up, but this witch was bright, he knew that instantly. He could sense the magic in her bubble. She was strong, too. But he could make her weak. Oh, yes, Jaggar Thorne was much stronger.
She knew that it was him, who had made her melt like gold. Barely even touching her. Oh, he could smell the attraction on her. The little witch had nothing she could hide. Her thundering heartbeat faded as she slipped away from him.
This excited him, yes. But, when the streets were silent, in the dead of the night, and no one was around, apart from him…
Jaggar was much more delighted to learn that she had decided to stay.
The window was locked tonight.
And Jaggar had laughed at the pathetic attempts from the innkeeper to try and hide his little dove from him.
He had darker magic than them.
And Jaggar felt the dark magic in her, as she slept in the dark, pokey room.
He just wondered how long it would take for her to feel it too.
But Jaggar had a lot of things to take care of. Werewolves to meet. He knew his little dove would be brought to him soon enough.
And he couldn’t wait.
She smelled of poppies and smoke.

Not There
He always touched me like he was checking I was still there. Not urgently. Not roughly. Just a hand on my wrist, my shoulder, the small of my back when we moved through rooms together. A habit I learned to expect before I learned to question. I told myself it was affection, that he needed closeness the way some people need reassurance. I never pulled away. I didn’t want him to think I could disappear again.
