However, one of the women, who had children, begged the witch to let her see her family. She gathered all the members of the court in the throne room and told them she knew how to find the thief. Each of them had to touch a rusty pot with a rooster inside while the lights were off. The rooster would crow when the criminal touched the pot. Strangely, the rooster didn't crow throughout the whole procedure. Despite this, the queen knew who had stolen the apple. Can you guess how?
By touching the pot, the members of the court ended up with rust on their hands. However, the thief was too scared to touch the pot in case the rooster crowed, so they didn't have any rust on their hands.
