Blue Flame
Don't Fly Too Close to The Sun

Have you ever flown too close to the sun? Kira Denton has—not literally, though she’s wanted to since her downfall. Once an outcast, then a beloved hero, she became an outcast again. Her arrogance, her cocky ways, led to the destruction of her image and the loss of those who once looked up to her.
At seven, a cosmic radiation bathed Earth in unseen energy, igniting dormant abilities in a select few around the globe. For Kira, her powers laid hidden, waiting. Life went on—until middle school.
A normal day in 8th grade chemistry class turned into chaos. Kira had always feared fire, yet found it mesmerizing. That day, fear turned into power. Flames erupted from her hands, scorching the room in a blaze of blue. She barely controlled it, nearly burning down the school.
As the world reported others with unique abilities, the source was traced back to that global phenomena that occurred several years ago. Though Kira wasn’t alone in having powers, she remained an outcast. But isolation became her training ground; she honed her powers, even learning to fly.
As she grew, Kira became known as Blue Flame, a superhero in her hometown of Miami. She fought crime, earning the city’s admiration. But success went to her head, and one mistake, a tragedy that could have been avoided, cost her everything.
After months of self-imposed exile and wallowing in self-pity, Kira returned, determined to be a true hero.

A lesson to be learned when humility is not a part of a hero's psyche. Power is useless without caring about the consequences.
