Blood Night

The Last Dance of the Night.

By PhatthariyaPublished about a year ago 2 min read

Music resonated throughout the upscale pub in the city center. Male and female patrons danced beneath vibrant neon lights, while the ambiance was permeated with the scent of alcohol and high-end perfumes. "Anna," a final-year student, surveyed her surroundings with trepidation. She had not come here of her own accord but was persuaded by her best friend. "It's going to be a fun night!" Rose exclaimed, guiding Anna further into the establishment.

Although Anna was not particularly fond of such venues, she attended in a bid to momentarily escape the rigors of her studies. Despite her reservations, she found herself gradually engaging with the music.

"Hey! Anna," Rose suddenly called out.

"Did you know? Someone died in the bathroom of this pub."

"Why are you sharing this information here?!" Anna frowned at Rose.

"Seriously! There was a woman who was murdered in the women's restroom on the second floor. I heard she was stabbed multiple times, and the perpetrator has not been identified." Rose's voice was low, but there was an unmistakable thrill in her tone as she noted Anna's apprehensive expression.

Goosebumps enveloped Anna as she processed the information. She attempted to dismiss the unsettling narrative and took a sip of her drink.

Moments later, Rose excused herself to join a group of newly acquainted male friends, leaving Anna alone. As her senses started to dull, she decided to visit the women's bathroom on the second floor.

"Do not dwell on it. There's nothing to worry about," Anna reassured herself.

Upon entering the restroom, the music faded to a near silence. Anna observed that the facilities appeared older than expected; the floor tiles bore cracks, and a musty odor lingered. She approached the sink to wash her face, and the large mirror reflected her image. For a fleeting moment, she thought she perceived the silhouette of a woman in a red dress behind her.

Turning around, she found no one present. Attempting to convince herself it was merely a trick of the light or her imagination, she still felt the goosebumps persist.

Abruptly, the bathroom door creaked open. A woman in a white dress stepped into view, her skin reminiscent of parchment and her gaze fixed on Anna through the mirror.

"Excuse me..." Anna spoke softly. "Can I help you?"

The woman did not respond, merely offering a slight smile before raising her hand to touch her neck. Anna's expression froze as she noticed blood trickling from the woman's neck. The crimson liquid stained her white dress, transforming it into a vivid red.

“Is it enjoyable to visit here…?” A chilling whisper emanated near Anna's ear. Though the lips of the woman in the mirror remained still, the sound reverberated throughout the restroom.

Anna screamed, but no sound emerged. Suddenly, the lights extinguished, enveloping the space in darkness. She hurried to the door, only to find it seemingly locked from the outside. Desperate for help, she pounded on the door, calling out, but it appeared that no one heard her cries.

The restroom lights flickered briefly. Anna turned to discover the woman in red standing before her, her face contorted into an unnaturally wide grin as she lunged at Anna, laughter echoing ominously throughout the bathroom.

When the light returned... the door swung open. The restroom was vacant, leaving only a lingering scent of blood in the air.
