You will not get another chance this year. The March 3
total lunar eclipse is the only one of 2026. After it
passes, the next total lunar eclipse visible from North
America is New Year's Eve 2028. Then March 2029.
You are looking at a nearly three-year window where
nothing like this happens. This is the one.
Here is what sleeping through it actually means.
At 6:04 AM EST on March 3, the Moon enters full totality.
It turns deep copper-red, a color created by every sunrise
and every sunset on Earth happening simultaneously,
their light bending around the planet's edge and landing
on the lunar surface. The Moon glows this way for 58
uninterrupted minutes. Then it fades back to white
and it is over. No replay. No second chance this year.
No equivalent event until the final night of 2028.
The people who see it will remember it. Not because
a Blood Moon is the rarest thing in the universe.
It is not. But because it is one of the few cosmic
events that requires absolutely nothing from you
except deciding to be awake. No equipment. No travel.
No special location. Just you, a clear sky,
and the choice to set an alarm.
The people who sleep through it will scroll past
the photographs that morning and think they will
catch the next one. That next one is New Year's Eve
2028. Two years, nine months, and twenty-eight days
from now. 8 days. One alarm. The only Blood Moon of the year.

Abandoned or did he just leave home I used to walk home late from work most nights. It was a route I knew well, one I could probably manage with my eyes closed, though I would never dare try. I have always been wary of the dark. Not frightened enough to stop living my life, but cautious. I walk quickly, keys threaded through my fingers, senses alert, listening to every shift in the night. Veil of Subconscious Awakening
Images slide behind my eyelids like film cadres, bursting with meanings. In one moment, I’m speeding down the highway, making the speedometer swing wildly like a frantic pendulum. The next moment, I’m plunging from a falling plane, slowly crashing earthward. At home, I meet black cat’s green, googly eyes staring at me from the cavernous hollowness of the kitchen. When I turn for a moment, it disappears, and all I can see is a pair of blue suede shoes set up against the wall. I pick them up and put them on. When I glimpse at them again, they’ve become black as night, making me blink and flinch.

But the times you tried to make it straight led to problems, and you didn’t have the tools to put any of it to use. You don't put your right shoes on the right feet; you put the left shoes on the left feet. The grey hardened slab will trip you up anyway.
