Biolyfe 2030
A future of populace
The year is 2030 and Earth’s population has doubled in size. At the time that the government and medical experts noticed the population increase a pathogen of unknown origin coined the End Virus said to be very deadly began infecting individuals across the planet. In response to this new threat of infectious disease the US government and the FDA began running regular medical examinations on people who may potentially be carriers of the disease. The FDA also constructed an anti-virus the administer to those who were possibly infected called Biolyfe 2030. Anyone who scanned for signs of the infection had to report to their local urgent care center to be vaccinated.
Ellen Rowe is in line at her local urgent care waiting to be vaccinated. “I never thought I’d have to be the one sitting up here waiting for a shot” Ellen thought. “ I mean, I live alone and don’t have any immediate family or close friends, so how could I be infected or a danger to anyone around me when I have no one?” As Ellen sat with her thoughts a doctor came to the front of the waiting room to retrieve her.
“Ellen Rowe?” The doctor called out. “Right here, that’s me” Ellen responded. Ellen got out of her chair and followed the doctor to the back to the operating room. “Ellen I’m Dr. Vincent Carberry”. “Nice to meet you” Ellen responded while shaking Vincent’s hand. “Take a seat right on the bed here. I wanna go over a few things with you”.
“First off, don’t fret. After running your test last week that your doctor sent us it turns out that you only have a mild case of the End Virus. We’re only gonna need to administer a small dose of the Biolyfe and then we can send you on your way, so go ahead and lay back. This’ll only take a second.”
“No problemo, doc” Ellen replied as she laid back on the bed. While Ellen laid back another female doctor entered the room with a syringe filled with a green liquid in hand. “Here you are doctor” she said while handing Carberry the needle. “Thank you, Jenkins” Carberry responded. Carberry walked over to Ellen and lifted the right sleeve of her shirt and stuck the needle in her arm. As the green liquid was injected into her veins Ellen felt a sensation.
“Wow, kinda feels good. It’s like it’s cool, but relaxing. It’s really not too- ah” Ellen gasped as she felt a tightness in her body and became short of breath. “What- what’s happening?” She gasped while looking at the two doctors who stood still watching her unfazed. Ellen gasped once more as she collapsed into lifelessness. “Is she dead? The female doctor asked. “Yes” Carberry responded.
“I really hate that we had to do this” Carberry continued. “Having to systematically kill off human beings with a deadly injection based on a non existent virus to control the world’s population really does suck”.
