An adventurer is one battle away from completing his noble quest. He has faced many trials throughout an ancient temple. He enters what appears to be a sacred altar. There are magnificent statues of celestial beings on either side of a staircase leading to a pedestal in the centre of the room with a large regal tapestry on the back wall depicting a ritual sacrifice. An ancient tome and a skull are resting on top of the altar.

He could only imagine the horrors that have occurred in the altar.

He draws his sword as he is ready for his final battle. One more trial before emerging triumphant.

A large bearded sorcerer with elf ears and horns is standing on the other side of the room. He smiles.

"I've been expecting you" he says nonchalantly.

He then turns around to face the adventurer.

"I was almost certain that you would not triumph...I must commend you for your reckless bravery..." he adds.

The adventurer holds up his hand and it emits a purple glow and a humming sound.

"What are you doing?" the sorcerer asked.

"I cast zone of truth!" he shouts.

The sorcerer is unphased.

"I would like to ask you one question before we quarrel!" The adventurer declares.

"Alright. I'm game." The sorcerer responded. "What would you like to know?"

The adventurer takes a deep breath before asking the sorcerer:

"Are you evil?"

The sorcerer was confused. Is that all he wanted to ask? The adventurer could have asked him about the deepest darkest of his secrets. He was not expecting such a simple question. He took a second to ponder. Though he was caught off guard by the simplicity of the question, he knew for a fact he had the perfect response. He realises that although he cannot lie about his answer, the truth spell does not restrict how you answer. He smiles evilly.

"Well it's not that simple you see..."

He looks slightly towards the ceiling as he begins to recall the many epic tales from his life story.

"It all started fifty years ago when I had just graduated from university. I majored in forgotten arcana and poly-sci with a minor in theatre. At the time, I was bartending at the local pub and I needed some direction in my life. One day an old bloke came in and he made me an offer I couldn’t refuse. The pay was fairly decent but I had no idea what his intentions were until a few years in. By then I was already in too deep but for some reason it didn’t bother me. Not to mention I loved the clients' reactions. I then stumbled upon a nearby kingdom where the king had died without an heir. I knew an opportunity when I saw one. I then took over as king. It took me a while to learn the ropes but eventually I got the hang of it. There have been some mass genocides that I may or may not have been responsible for. I also captured a princess from the neighboring kingdom and made her my bride. We allied our nations and I’ve had some oppression but I’ve dealt with them. It’s been a wild ride and I’ve never looked back since. One could say that I’m evil while others might just say I did what I had to. So all in all...It depends on how you look at things. Just as Master Obi-Wan Kenobi once said: What I told you is true...From a certain point of view."

He pauses before declaring:

"In conclusion...Yes. I am evil."
