My name is Carver. The Year is 2121. The Earth has been a wasteland since the Antilles; this malformed prickled face lizard looking things. They destroyed our planet, killed off more than half the world population; the nastiest of them stayed with us: torturing us, enslaving us. It has been said many times that someone out there will save us, kind of like a superhero, but we all know that superheroes don’t exist. We all know that they only live in a fantasy world. We all know that we are the only ones who can save us, is us.
Since the fateful day of the Antilles departing, those who have survived their invasion built a utopia. No one from the Antilles can get in, and if they tried, they wouldn’t get close to the high fence: correction they couldn’t. Besides the tall fence we also have a wall, a wall big enough for no one to see over and no one to jump over or invade. These people found a way to get these soldiers from the Antilles away with a high frequency vibration that I’m sure not even the Antilles themselves knew.
The Utopia held more than enough space for the survivors, and even barracks for training where the strongest of men and women would go. I am one of those warriors. My fair tall build and chunky assets, long brunette hair, and my amber eyes getting hit with the rays of the scorching sun; I don’t see anything for miles. This is a good sign, that means “The Last Ones” weren’t close by. We gave them that name because they are the last ones of the Antilles race to stay on planet Earth. I am a searcher and a defender, due to my stocky built as a girl and strength like a boy I am a very good asset to the Allies. We train from night to day, day and night. The only break we get is to take a shower or to have something to eat. We don’t mind, it’s not like we can do anything. There’s nothing to do. We have no theatres, no malls, not even supermarkets. Whatever food we find, we usually have to hunt for like meat and veggies, but if we want to eat something we haven’t had in a really long time, we would have to get out of the barriers and feverishly drive to a market close by. Our engineers still have not found a way to add the frequency that we need to use against the enemy on our cars or tanks to get supplies; luckily, we don’t need to go out too often since we like to fully stock up with everything that we need all at once so just in case there is any of the Antilles close by, they don’t track us to our haven.
The only family I have left is my dog, Zephyr. When the Antilles first attacked, I had just got her; she hasn’t left my side since. I also have my best friend, Jake. Jake is another warrior and he doe tactics, and he is a damn great warrior; when he’s not trying to take care of me that is. Jake’s family and my family knew each other before the war, and we’ve been inseparable. If it wasn’t for Jake, I’m sure I would be dead by now. I have no chill, no filter, and no care. They took it all from me and I will stop at nothing to take everything away from them as well. Jake is a model extra tall nerd, or what one would hope they looked like when like was normal, when life wasn’t always about trying to survive and protecting. While Jake does have to sport glasses, with the way the world is right now; we were surprised we found an ophthalmologist office and one supplied with laser equipment to fix Jake’s eye sight. We were more surprised when we had an ophthalmologist amongst us in the utopia. I’m sure glad we did though, without Jake I don’t know where I would’ve been: he would’ve been a dead probably; Jakes’s eyesight was never good, he always had to wear those big thick rimmed glasses. But he always looked his best when he wore his hair in a side swept and those glasses on the bridge of his nose. Back then Jake wasn’t stocky, now on the other hand he is. I’m proud of my Jake. We’re the Jake and Carver team, and we were unstoppable. We got super dedicated to helping those who didn’t have a home or family since the attack. We got bigger with the fighting.
“Hey Jake, what is that over there?” I ask solemnly.
“I’m not sure, it looks like a heard is coming from all the smoke on their trail or could it be a sandstorm?” Jake retorted.
I stand from where I was sitting, and stare at where the billows of clouds are coming from. Jake stood next to me peering at the clay cloud. We were on top of a building in the utopia, Zephyr was at the bottom waiting for us, she’ll definitely let us know when someone is coming. I woke up this morning with the worst feeling in the pit of my stomach; I wasn’t sure what it was but this was it. I still don’t know what it is but I feel it in my blood that this is what we have been waiting for. There weren’t many Antilles left in the planet, and to be honest they didn’t seem all that scary anymore. I’m ready for them, Jake is ready for them. The Utopia is ready for them. We haven’t seen them in a while because we out number them, but they were still stronger than us, no matter what way we put it. Yes, we have the numbers; but what they lack in numbers they gain in strength. This time though, Humans, Animals, and what little plant life we have left are going to win, I am not going to give up on my race nor on my planet. They need me, they need us. Once these rogue Antilles are killed off, we will know peace. Anyways, they took something from me that I will get back. No matter what the cost is.
I don’t know why I said this but my gut was telling me so, “are you ready?” I ask Jake one more question. Jake looks at me with a puzzled look in his eyes and continues climbing down the stairs. For being in tactics, this man doesn’t still doesn’t know the right queues. At the bottom of the building, we were welcomed by Zephyr and the man who put this utopia together, someone that I have the utmost respect for, Mike: Mike isn’t the type you’d see in a war like this but he is. Mike is usually in search for the leftover Antilles, so this is strange to Jake and me. “What’s wrong Mike?” Jake and I ask in unison.
“I hope you guys are ready, I found them. They’re almost here. Past the horizon.” Mike said excitedly. That’s what the feeling is and what the clouds were. I look at Jake and we start running to the barracks. We suit up, grab our gear, and tie our shoelaces; we were ready for a long time, we were excited about this: but not in a totally psycho killer way. We get to the front of the utopia, guns in hand and swords in the back. You don’t know with these animals. As the wall comes up revealing the cloud getting thicker and bigger, every single warrior and trainer were right behind us ready to fight. It seemed like forever for them to get closer, it could be because they’re freaking lizards, they take 17 years for just one step. As they got closer, every warrior was getting their weapon ready. Bows and arrows, guns, swords, etc.
The clouds stop coming closer, once the scene cleared; we saw them. Waiting. Taunting. But they had another thing coming, this fight they would lose. With our weapons in hand, we start going forward, as did the Antilles. Then we started running, and they copied us. Until I was the one with the first hit, head shot; they didn’t see it coming. We already have the upper hand.
The rest of the Antilles put up a great fight, but we put up a greater fight. Left and right carnage from the fight, not a single human soul was released nor a single drop of blood on the floor. That’s when I saw him, the bastard had a smirk on his face. I ripped out my sword from the thing I just killed, swung my sword in the air to clean off the left-over purple gunk they called blood. I ran up to the monster that killed Jake and my family and swung my sword toward him, his sword came up and clashed with my own. We fought hard and long, we were the last one standing up until the moment my sword went through his heart and his spine. What made this fight even better was the fact that I was able to rip my blue heart shaped locket my mom gave me from the neck of that lizard bastard that took it from me in the first place. I had his glorious blood on my hands and I will never regret it. We had finally won, take that alien race. Go fuck yourselves.
