Backstage, Dodley Demser shined his shoe to a high gloss.
“You’re going to go out there, play behind the screen, and we’re going to get this pay.”
“It’s an awards show for the white man. We’re nominated, but they can't see our faces. It’s a travesty. So what if we win? We won’t be able to attend the hotel or even go through the same doors,” Felton Crimp said.
“Never mind all of that. We’re going to get this money. The award be damned,” Savoy Turnstile looked into his mirror and fixed his conch.
“One day we’ll get representation,” Demser said.
