Awakened by a Raindrop

It is just a matter of time

By Wilbert Dela CruzPublished 3 years ago 4 min read

Nobody can hear a scream in the vacuum of space, or so they say, but I am here to let you in—on an entirely different story, embedded from an old, and ancient—secret that only a small number of people, in the history of humanity, has ever known. I am here to tell you; that you are in for a very long ride. Who am I is not something that I can simply bring out to light in an instant? From where I am, you probably would not be able to hear me scream, not because of gravity, or that I am way too far from you. No, it has never been a matter of however vast, the emptiness of spaces crashing between us, but more to do with everything—funneled through time.

Listen to me, time works differently from where I am compared to where you are. Time is like water, it bends and fluctuates, and consumes everything. Time is everything. I have yet to fully clarify the deeper extent of who you are, at this very moment, but I am close, very close to finding out. I also do not know yet where you are, exactly, not even as to when this is happening, at your end of space, all that I can tell you is, that I have been looking forward to making this—here as our first contact out of many more to come. Let us just say, I have worked extensively hard in perfecting this “merging” for well more than two thousand, and twenty-four years of your time frame. I know how weird that must have sounded to you, but don’t you worry too much, I will tell you everything. You will be the first, to know what I am about to tell you. It is going to open your eyes to things, for a very long time, only existed inside the realm of everyone’s imagination. The precipice will be at hand, and I am here to tell you, that it is going to be just the beginning.

Rest assured, I have always been here, and I am a human being just like you, but I have never yet had the chance to live where you are, nor my feet have not had the privilege to ever even touched the ground you are standing in, and as wonderful as where I am, I cannot help but to only imagine how intoxicating it would be, to be where you are. “Hmmm!” And no, I not talking to you from a whole different planet or anything like that, but I do, reside somewhere in between, not in ways of different timelines, nor shifts either, but just on another plain. Wait, hold on, don’t go yet, no, no, no! hold my hand, there is one more thing I need to say, and don’t let go of my hands, until I do! Not yet! Not yet! (There was a loud screaming but, in the end, the sound could not have sounded so loud but even still, remained inaudible)

If there was an actual screaming that went on, Dane De Kairos, the protagonist of our story could not have heard the fullness of it, all due to the unthinkable confusion screeching through the sirens, mixed—in with all the other noises, as well as the many voices coming from all over the places.

— “Is she Okay mom, is she going to be, Okay?

— “What happened to her?”

— “I think she was at the car that fell over that bridge there, and she has been underwater there for quite a while”

— “One, two, three, come—on, come—on, one, two, three, you can do it, come back, come back for me, please come back, one, two, three”

Dane awakened and found herself lying at the side of the road, alone, in the middle of a very deserted place, at a place she could not instantly recognize. The next thought she entertains was about re-emerging from out of a dream, but only to find, later, it wasn’t—not really, at least, not the kind of dream as to which she often always had. She woke up with both her arms elevated in such a way, as though she was reaching for someone else’s hand, but there was no one there, except for the thunderous sound of silence, lurking behind an enormous space. She eventually found the strength she needed to eventually lift herself, while still quite confused out of her mind chasing every single breath, she could take. On the contrary, here come a raindrop, falling in slow motion, taking almost forever to get to a perfect vantage point to meet Dane’s eyes, and not only that, but it was quite big, shaped in the size of an apple—falling. “It’s so beautiful” was the first thought that came to her, and while in her amazement, she suddenly heard a voice come out—out of it, trying to communicate with her—telling her, “Hold on, don’t go yet, no, no, no! Come back for me, one, two, three “then more raindrops came falling right after, falling at a higher-speed, this time, pouring precipitously as if the entire veil of the heaven, literally opened, so colossal it fell like a giant waterfall. Knock her out of her feet in an instant, to only awakened by the sound of sirens, and feeling dampened by the reality that she was soaked from the inside out, more so, thirsting for more than just breathe, but for more information

Ooh I’d like to see this as a book someday. Hopefully you have the drive to write it. A lot of effort was put into your work and it shines. Best of luck to you in the challenge
