Aurora Borealis
Balancing Celestial Duty with Human Connection

A young woman, named Aurora, was guided by the Moon’s glow. Her eyes marveled at the starry blanket above her as she eagerly waited for the annual Meteor Shower. As she rushed through the forest paths, she found a huge clearing. Shimmering droplets slowly fell from the sky there, as if water droplets were made of gold and time itself had slowed down. Stunned by the beauty, she stepped into the clearing for a closer look. As she stood there, streaks of light danced around her, creating a magical scene as if she were surrounded by falling stars.
Within a brilliant burst of starlight, Aurora was transformed. Her outfit was now a dark blue suit sparkled with twinkling constellations, and her hair looked like the galaxy itself.

She had become Aurora Borealis, a protector, a hero - with the power to control starlight. Using this new ability, she could shoot beams of starlight, create illusions, she could also heal some wounds using Stardust.
Though, the good of this change was not without consequences. The Voided Star, a well known villain, wanted to drain Earth's natural energy. He had a seemingly endless army of creatures made of Dark Matter that he always used to fight off Aurora.
Aurora Borealis battled the Voided Star and his creations for many years. Though, as time passed... her focus on her heroic duties often left her feeling isolated. Her connection to the stars gave her strength yes, but it also made her feel so distant and alone.
In her battles, Aurora grappled with the conflict between her new responsibilities and her need for human connection again. As though being a hero meant you could save anyone you wanted - but in time she realized the cost was that no one could save her.

Authors note; I wanted to write a story of a hero but I also wanted to express how lonely Hero's probably actually feel. When you have something unique about you, its very easy to feel alone. Its something I think is often "lightly poked" but never really expressed. As an introvert, I thought it might be a little easier for me to portray so here it is! A young woman who gains the abilities of something she deeply admires, the stars! And in becoming a "star" (Hero) She starts to realize how far away that makes her feel in life. As an epic beginning, I think maybe if it were to continue, she would start to forge connections, and relations. She would find other misfits and maybe even make a team or find people who are so different from herself that they each relate on feeling too different and thereby... feel at home with each other.
