Aubri's Christmas Miracle
A Christmas Miracle Unofficial Vocal Community Challenge

Aubri was starting to get worried. They broke down for over an hour, and the snow didn’t let up. She and her husband were going to her grandmother’s house with their kids for the Christmas vacation.
Jim had been driving when they had hit a patch of black ice on the road and ended up in the ditch. No one had gotten hurt, but the wreck had caused two tires to become flattened.
Their cell phones were useless, being so far out from a tower. Jim wanted to walk back the way they’d come and see if he could find a house with a phone, but Aubri didn’t want to be separated in the blizzard that the regular snowstorm had turned into.
So, they had stayed, hoping the snowplow would show up soon. But an hour had passed, and nothing had gone by. Hence, the reason Aubri was starting to get worried.
After another thirty minutes, they had just decided that Jim would walk to find a phone when they heard a loud rumbling motor pull up beside them. Turning to look, Aubri saw a man dressed in a red and green flannel jacket, a brown timber jack hat, and a pair of snow pants getting out of a substantial black 4x4 crew cab work truck.
Aubri would have been even more worried, but there seemed to be something so jolly about this man that immediately put her and Jim at ease, and when he asked them where they were going, they readily told him. When he asked them if they wanted a ride, they agreed to allow him to drive them to Aubri’s grandma’s house.
As he helped them load their things into his truck, he introduced himself as Chris and told them he’d been a widower for many a year. Inside his vehicle, it smelled of peppermint and cocoa, and Chris asked them if it was okay if they listened to Christmas carols while they drove.
It took Chris about forty minutes to drive the ten miles left of Aubri and her family's journey. Aubri was surprised they were that close to her grandma’s house.
Chris helped them carry their things to Grandma’s front door. As they rang the bell, they turned to tell him thank you for helping them in their hour of need. But neither Chris nor his truck were anywhere to be seen. They hadn't even heard him start his vehicle up and leave.
As they stood there staring in shock, they heard a voice in the distance say, “HO! HO! HO! Merry Christmas”
