Code is everywhere. Casden’s hands looked like hazelnuts. Lelia’s face looked as white as a sheet of paper. She smiled at him with perfectly straight teeth. He responded with pearly dentin himself.

“The whole mission wouldn’t be possible without you,” she said.

“I know.” They both looked severe. “I thank you for exploring space with me. It’s great to have a companion. Especially one who smells so good and appeals to the sense of sight, as well.”

Then, the ship rocked. A laser blast had struck them. It happened to be their allies, now obviously adversaries. They manned battle stations.
