He loved the way she would absent-mindedly bite the end of her quill in concentration only to splutter quietly the moment the feathers touched her tongue. He always pretended to not see.

He loved the way she spoke, rambling yet purposeful and every word mattered.

He loved the way she always smelled like Nadia—a unique combination of ink, parchment, and antique books.

He could speak about her for days, write endless novels. He loved her...

and yet he would remain quiet about that fact until the day he died so that she could stay happy with someone else.
