Hello Natasha,
I'm writing to let you know that I've been playing with your former lover, Joe since he died. You see, I'm what you might call a female Lucifer -- demoness. I really enjoy my job.
When I was on earth decades ago, my husband was unfaithful to me, so I especially like torturing adulterers like the two of you.
So far, I've barely turned up the heat, but Joe sure was cursing and writhing. I left him with a slow burn, but when I return, I'm really going to zap him. Sometimes, I like to play with very tender spots. Sometimes, I just blast away at the whole person. No matter what I burn, your bodies will never burn away, so I can keep it up forever. I even like to pretend like I'm going to give someone a reprieve, only to get back at it right away.
Getting to the point, I believe you'll be joining me soon. I doubt a last-minute penance will have any bearing on your afterlife.
You and Joe will not see or hear each other, but I'll be sure to fill you both in on what I'm doing to make your lover as miserable as possible.
I'm looking forward to some screaming good times.

Walking (Part 7)
When I got home, I changed out of my work clothes into jeans and a t-shirt, fed the cat, and set off for a walk by the river. The leaves were beginning to turn, and the dogwoods and Bradford pear trees looked like upside down ladies wearing red dresses in the sky. When I turned off of the road onto the path, the shade made it feel cooler, and the little patches of light coming down between the leaves of the trees were right pretty.
