Android Apocalypse

Dragons rise against their masters, to save humanity from extinction

By Jason-Matory BaileyPublished 4 years ago 3 min read

There weren’t always dragons in the valley.

But then again, there weren’t ever deranged killer androids enslaving humanity.

But I guess some things are just a matter of time, and ego.

Approximately 3030 years in the future things aren’t going too great for the human race. Believe it or not, our technological advancements including bio-engineered genetic remapping and the advent of virtual reality, brought about the end of freedom as we knew it and ushered in the era of our extinction.

There has always been lack of fear of what might happen when science is unleashed - and nature reacts.

Man’s reach extends beyond his grasp, and we celebrate the accomplishment without questioning if we should tried in the first place.

Much too late

We had long forgotten our place in the mechanism of the universe.

Machines… don’t forget.

I could tell you that this was inevitable.

It’s the same old story, we get what we have allowed.

Humans have been abusing and not honoring our contract with the Blue Planet long before darkness consumed the skies for weeks that turned into months.

Stories and fables and environmental leaders shouting, screaming that we were riding headlong into certain and inescapable doom, of our own making, was coming and would soon be here.

That there were flashpoints across our planet that were marginalized by global powers, or commoditized by corporations governed purely by avarice.

What happened was simple.

We fell under the spell of our self-proclaimed dominance. We believed that we could harness the power of life to be used as a tool instead of just what it has and always should be: Life.

When we developed the ability to creating thinking, living creatures capable of creating, we ostensibly consigned our species to death.

Next came our support systems.

Government police hospitals, anything that could support or replenish physical human need was eradicated.

Governments, officials, leaders anyone with any authority was targeted immediately. First it seemed several high-profile individuals were tragically and inexplicably lost. We mourned their deaths as tragedy, when the machines had precisely calculated their murders.

Soon the numbers couldn’t be ignored as improbable events and when the assassination of a 30 members of a coalition to deactivate the androids occurred, it was evident to everyone. It’s them or us.

They controlled everything and they knew how to control humans. We were at their mercy, and they had the brilliant idea to enslave rather kill, the masses, that is until we started fighting back.

It seems they were always working on the next evolution even as they were reshaping our existence.

The machines were re-engineering and repopulating extinct animals, that could be controlled. Nature was as it were, at the mercy of machines.

The dawn of dinosaurs was the tipping point for humans. This was the call that could not be allowed. We knew what their existence meant, even if the androids couldn’t theorize the outcome.

Humans and dinosaurs had never existed at the same time in history, and throwing androids into the mix wasn’t going to make matters anything but worse.

I should be thankful that my words are getting out but all that I can think of is revenge. I should be giving you the roadmap to their central AI - a fortress buried four kilometers below the earths surface where they are manufacturing dragons, no sh-t DRAGONS! To fight their war with humanity.

I should be telling how to reprogram their basic directives so you override the standing kill code everyone of them cycles through every hour on the hour, and why you shutting them down is only half of the problem we face, and I should be giving you the most important information we have to date, why many of our brothers and sisters have been captured, enslaved, multilateral and killed, just so I can share it with you now, but there are two things that won’t let me tell you.

1. I don’t know if you’re one of them, because no one knows anymore, so pisspfff!!

2. And, the air in this abandoned office building started smelling like blood and methane about three minutes ago, so…

The dark room filled with bright orange light, and suddenly the hues of infernal blaze swept across the open area, igniting everything, including the laptop computer still uploading the desperate message to the future, just before turning to a charred brick.

Your prose is sharp, blunt, and the story carries metaphorical relevance to what's actually happening today. I enjoyed it!
