Abandoned Cabin

A Camping Trip Gone Horribly Wrong

By Uzair KhanPublished 3 years ago 5 min read

It was supposed to be a fun weekend getaway for a group of five friends. Emily, Jake, Sam, Mia, and Alex had been planning their camping trip for weeks, excited to escape the city and spend some time in nature. They had packed their tents, sleeping bags, and supplies, and set off early in the morning, ready for an adventure.

Their destination was a remote area deep in the woods, where they hoped to find some peace away from the stresses of everyday life. They hiked for hours, chatting and laughing as they made their way through the trees, and eventually stumbled upon a clearing where they decided to set up camp.

As the sun began to set, they gathered around the fire they had built and cooked dinner, sharing stories and jokes as they ate. But as the night grew darker, they began to notice something strange. There was a chill in the air, and the sounds of the forest around them had grown eerily quiet.

"Is it just me, or does it feel like we're being watched?" Emily asked, looking around nervously.

The others shrugged it off, attributing it to their imaginations, but as the night went on, the feeling only grew stronger. They eventually decided to turn in for the night, hoping to get some rest before continuing their adventure in the morning.

But their peaceful night's sleep was not to be. In the middle of the night, they were all awoken by the sound of a loud crash coming from the woods nearby. Startled and afraid, they huddled together in their tents, listening as the noise grew louder and closer.

Finally, they could take it no longer. Jake, the bravest of the group, suggested they investigate the source of the disturbance. The others were hesitant but eventually agreed, and they set off into the woods with flashlights in hand.

As they approached the source of the noise, they saw a small cabin in the distance, its windows broken and its door hanging off its hinges. It looked abandoned and derelict, but the group could not help but feel drawn to it.

"Let's go check it out," Sam suggested, and the others agreed, their curiosity getting the better of them.

As they approached the cabin, they noticed strange symbols etched into the wood, and a foul smell emanating from within. But despite their misgivings, they entered the cabin, their flashlights illuminating the dusty and cobwebbed interior.

As they moved through the rooms, they noticed that strange things were happening. Objects moved on their own, and shadows flickered on the walls. They felt a sense of dread and foreboding as if they were being watched by an unseen presence.

It was then that they saw it – a figure lurking in the shadows, its eyes glowing with an otherworldly light. They could not make out its features, but they knew that it was not human.

Terrified, the group fled the cabin, running as fast as they could back to their campsite. But the creature pursued them, its unearthly cries echoing through the forest. They knew they had to find a way to defeat it, or they would never make it out of the woods alive.

Thinking quickly, they remembered a legend they had heard about a local witch who had been rumored to have powerful magical abilities. They knew that if they could find her, she might be able to help them defeat the creature.

They set off into the woods once again, determined to find the witch and enlist her help. As they hiked through the trees, they noticed strange symbols etched into the bark of the trees, pointing them in the right direction.

Finally, they reached the witch's cottage, deep in the heart of the forest. It was a small, ramshackle building, covered in moss and vines, with smoke curling from the chimney.

They knocked on the door, their hearts racing as they waited for a response. After a few moments, the door creaked open, revealing an old woman with piercing blue eyes and a wrinkled face.

"What brings you to my humble abode?" she asked, her voice soft and creaky.

The group explained their situation, telling her about the creature that had pursued them from the abandoned cabin. The witch listened intently, her eyes growing wide with concern.

"I see," she said finally. "This creature you speak of is not of this world. It is a spirit, sent to torment and terrorize the living."

"But how do we defeat it?" Jake asked, his voice trembling.

The witch smiled, a glint in her eye. "I may be able to help you," she said. "But it will not be easy. You must gather a few rare ingredients and perform a ritual that will banish the spirit back to the underworld from whence it came."

The group nodded, eager to do whatever it took to rid themselves of the creature. The witch gave them a list of ingredients they would need, including rare herbs and crystals that could only be found deep in the forest.

They set off once again, searching for the ingredients they needed. It was a difficult and perilous journey, but they were determined to see it through. Finally, after several hours of searching, they had everything they needed.

They returned to the witch's cottage, where she helped them prepare the ritual. They lit candles and incense and chanted ancient words in a language they did not understand. The air grew thick with energy, and they felt the presence of the spirit growing stronger.

But they persevered, pouring their will and energy into the ritual. Finally, with a blinding flash of light, the spirit was banished, its unearthly cries fading into the distance.

The group collapsed in exhaustion, tears streaming down their faces. They had faced their fears and triumphed over the unknown. They knew that they would never forget the horrors they had faced in the woods, but they also knew that they had come out the other side stronger and braver than before.

As they made their way back to civilization, they knew that they would always carry with them the memories of their camping trip gone wrong. But they also knew that they had made a bond that would last a lifetime, forged in the face of danger and adversity.
