A Visit to Yanji

Travel

By DanilBosPublished 4 years ago 7 min read

It was a little after ten o'clock at night when I arrived in Yanji. I stepped off the plane gangway in the slow and soft wishing voice of the flight attendants. The cool breeze instantly brushed my cheeks, feeling the 22-degree summer, I thought of this commercial on TV and the Internet, and the refreshing coziness permeated my heart. The waiting hall was bright, and the electronic screen flashed the scenery of "Jindalai under Changbai Mountain", "Jindalai Fragrance Full of Border City", and "Rooster Hearing Three Countries and Looking at the Ocean". Two hours ago, I was in the seaside Rizhao, and now I am standing in the place that makes me dream.

The people around me were hurrying past with their suitcases, running to the room that belonged to them. Standing on the square outside the airport lobby, I turned my head and saw the dazzling red light of the bilingual "Yanji" set on the roof of the terminal building, and in this red halo, my vision began to blur. I greeted her excitedly, but she retreated and disappeared into the red light. It was as if the figure knew I was coming, to visit her, but could not enter her.

I got into a light blue cab and sped towards the city. Rolling down the window, the cool breeze got into the car and the whole body and mind was overwhelmingly ironic. Maybe the wind is her, a touch of cool, a few silence, but the eyes flowing out of the story. The driver is an old countryman, quite talkative. Look at it, Yanji has changed a lot. The car arrived at the riverfront avenue, refurbished asphalt road, in the wheels turning rapidly backward, the neon lights on both sides of the river illuminate each high-rise, and into the river, the reflection in the water swaying clear and blurred. Is that the Burkhartung River? I asked the driver. He looked back and said, "Yes, look at the two sides of the river, the lighting project is one of the best in Northeast Asia.

The car turned a corner at the north end of the Yanji Bridge and headed north. I saw this familiar place again, but the original Yanji Bridge look has been lost. Newly built in the summer night Yanji Bridge is far like a flying north and south of the rainbow, the bridge is in the middle of the two sides of the silver flying geese are spreading their wings, blue glittering reflection cast in the dark green water, almost across the entire bridge body of the spirit, the bridge will also bring out a kind of dynamic momentum to fly. Below the asphalt road, near the shore is a spacious walkway paved with granite stones, on which people walk in the cool, changing postures, moving slowly, immersed in the enjoyment of the cool beauty of the river on both sides of the summer night.

At the north end of the bridge, the Youth Square, Baisan Building and not far from the Agricultural Bank, the Yanbian Daily building all surrounded by colored lights and neon, full of street lights, overflowing with light, so I felt like I was in Pudong, Shanghai, and like walking through the sky street. Such a dazzling night scene, gave me the general illusion of a dream, but this is in the reality of Yanji ah. At this point I realized that the driver's words are not showing off, but the flow of heartfelt feelings, is a sincere love of their city's heartfelt words.

I woke up at dawn and couldn't wait to get up and wash up, and came to the foyer on the first floor of the hotel where I was staying. A fifty-year-old Korean Azimai (ama) was mopping the floor, and when she saw me, she said, "I'm going out so early. I smiled and said, "Thank you. I know that there are many cabs in Yanji, and the starting price is also low. In the past, there was a saying that "a Korean woman had to bring 11 yuan to buy one yuan of bean-tooth vegetables, and the other 10 yuan was the taxi fare". This is not just to say that it is cheap to take a cab in Yanji, but more importantly that it is rich and people have money in their hands.

I know that along the people's road to the west leads to the West Market, the park and Yan University and other places that I remember, so I thought I would see them quickly. On the way past the Weiyuan Building, Hancheng Hotel, Xinhua Bookstore, China Unicom, Yanbian International Trade Building and New Century Building, came to the simple station at the intersection of Senghua Street and People's Road, where a number of buses were parked for departure, I think the original here is a bungalow stores ah.

Standing at the west end of the station on the roadside stones, south to see the Senghua Street winding to the Youth Square, People's Road after the Senghua Street, is the Park Bridge, the bridge has a variety of vehicles like turbulent water flowing fast, under the bridge is the Yanji River, refurbished river, the river on both sides of the river is built with granite embankment, the following is the cement paved walkway and recreational areas, the river is not large, from north to south slowly flowing, the early risers in twos and threes. Early risers walked in twos and threes along the walkway, some for morning exercise and some rushing to the morning market, setting off the rhythm of the city.

The park was refreshingly open, without walls. Under the old willow tree by the lotus pond, there were some middle-aged men in short sleeves and shorts playing table tennis, dripping with sweat, next to a group of people wearing white clothes playing tai chi, lined up in three or four teams making different poses, looking very committed. I moved forward and went up the steps in the shade sifted by the sun, flanked by aged but neatly trimmed shrubs, and further flanked by dracaena and pine trees of different shapes but tall, with folds of bark cracking wildly, showing the vitality of life that seemed to greet me.

I felt cool and refreshing as I picked up the steps on the pathway interspersed with tall and short trees. The sculpture named "Song of Life" was erected to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the founding of the autonomous region. The overall image is of a black and white woman rising from the sky in the Tianchi of Changbai Mountain, stretching her arms to hold up the dove of peace, which means that the people of all ethnic groups in Yanbian are rooted in the black soil of the White Mountains and write a life hymn of harmony between man and nature, man and society with hard work and wisdom. The hymn of life for the harmonious development of man and nature and man and society. The beauty of this sculpture is that it replaces the sculpture of "Changbai Nymph" that existed in the 1980s, and replaces the beautiful memory of pure and kind Korean girls playing the piano, dancing and scattering flowers on Changbai Mountain in the hearts of the old Yanji people, and more importantly, it changes the theme of the park for 100 years.

On the lawn of the flower bed behind this sculpture, a sculpture group was formed, there are mothers feeding their children, there are old people teaching children to read, there are adults carrying children playing, there are old people making clay pots, there are mothers combing their daughters' hair, there are old people carrying baskets walking as fast as they can, there are children playing looking at the stars, stopping to follow, I really had an addiction to art appreciation. In fact, the sculpture of "Changbai Nymph" has vivid facial expressions, detailed portrayal, a long Korean skirt, graceful and generous dance posture, highly expressive of the imagery beauty of the character, with great aesthetic value. I think it would be great if she could return to her current position of "Song of Life", so that visitors who walk up the steps can first catch the eye and appreciate it.

The small pier is in the northwest corner of the park, from the sculpture group to the west through a tall crassus forest shade of the winding path, you can see the roadside stand towards the Han bilingual two stone monuments, written on the "small pier site", the state government announced, the city government to establish, which shows the value of this heritage. The square stone paved path, curved to bring me to this site, the pavilion above seems not new, the ground with cement simple treatment, the steps of the stone is still exposed, the cement pillar of purple blood-like paint has been peeling off a lot, there are young people carved on the words and figures expressing love.

I remember the year I first came to school in Yanji, class teacher Jin A Zhe organized a National Day tour, picnics, games, reading poetry, teachers and students also danced Korean dance, and finally took a group photo at the pavilion, the expression is still vivid in front of my eyes, such as in front of me. The small pier and the pavilion on top of it are still there now, but they have long since lost their appearance. I leaned on the pavilion for a long time, and in the distance, there were all kinds of billboards hanging on the tall buildings on the park road, forming a wall of advertisements that I seldom saw but with a strong commercial atmosphere, and in the near distance, there was still a forest full of greenery, and the crushes that she leaned on and laughed with me were still standing there, but she was far away from the ocean, and her figure and smile could only be found in my mind, which made me sad.
