A Special Event
A businessman encounters a young woman who finds interest in a deal.
Wind blown towns hummed with the sounds of commerce. Studs Gramble, thirty-eight, walked the Wilmington, Delaware streets with a purpose. Brown-skinned, he ambled around an open market with much aplomb. A limited edition, high-end doll that boasted its role as an astronaut nearly poked out of the plastic and cardboard which encased it.
He passed by a small section where a young woman, only eighteen-years-old, fashioned dolls out of her own hair. The girl looked stunning as a bald, black goddess. The dolls looked smallish and didn’t need a whole lot of hair. She fashioned them to a specific degree.
“I see you’ve got all of these from your own head,” he said. “I’m Studs Gramble.”
“That’s true,” Onika Princely replied. She possessed features resembling the color of black sand.
“I was wondering, can I buy all of these dolls, flip them, and we can both make a profit? I’m a senior vice president with Diamante Bank. We could use an entrepreneur like yourself to bolster business.”
Onika pondered for a half second and then retorted, “What’s my ROI?”
“You will get most of the profits from the dolls and not have to worry about cutting your hair. It will be a special event that we’ll run every year. You’ll get forty-nine percent of the profits. That will be a very Merry Christmas for you next year.”
“What if I said I’ve had similar offers for more incentives?” Onika questioned.
“I’d say we’ll ensure that you get a bonus based on the profits you generate.”
“We’ll have to call that a deal then. We can formalize everything on Monday,” Onika responded.
“Great. I’ll draft the agreement and we’ll start selling these dolls seasonally.”
“Merry Christmas…? “Onika.” Then, Gramble saw other women step forward. They removed their caps to show baldness.
