A Simple Spell

Microfiction Horror

By Laura PruettPublished about a year ago 1 min read

She scratched out each letter with a gruesome smile, her teeth still dripping from her latest meal. She dipped her quill into the skull of blood, then inscribed afresh.

He’d cried too much, the child she’d borne, and something had to be done about it. But she’d found a way . . . a way to end their suffering and achieve life eternal for them both.

A simple spell, with a simple sacrifice. First of him. Then, as he still digested, of her as well. She cackled uncontrollably as she wrote the final line, then fell dead and began anew.
