Sitting on the edge of the rock, the young woman gently swayed her legs; while letting her toes brushed across the brisk water of the ocean. Wisps of her hair flowed through the cool breeze, tickling the side of her cheek. It reminded her of the soft touches of his fingertips upon her skin. Letting out a solemn sigh, she slowly leaned her head back looking upon the violet night. The moon shined brighter than any other night before; with the captivating glow surrounding it seemed....well peaceful.

"I love you" she replayed the words over and over in her head. Never in her wildest dreams did she ever think that those three simple little words would ever affect her so much again. Nor did she ever expected to hear them from..... him. He had a reputation that many women knew about. The smooth talker. The Adonis. The eye-candy of every woman with a seductive smile. When she first met him, she thought he was cute and funny but a little arrogant. Well cocky was more like it. But he kept coming back; very persistent on getting to know more about her. At first, she agreed to only satisfy his curiosity. Honestly, she wasn't even sure what it was that caught his attention in the first place. But he kept coming back, even after she introduced him to her two boys. She truly believed that the fact she was a single mother would have scared him away. It did with others.

She slowly lied down on the dock and continued to watch the glistening night sky. "What do I do?" she whispered to herself. "I promised to never let anyone get this close again. To never be hurt or trust. But how did this happen?" She kept asking herself over and over again but nothing made any sense. For the first time in a long time, she felt as if this was meant to be. To be with a man, who loves her for who she was and not afraid of the fact that she was a single mother.

Minutes passed by; memories of all the times he made her laugh; all the times he embraced her with his warm strong arms; and all the times he simply looked deep into her eyes, gently placing his hands upon her face and kissed her with his soft lips, flooded her mind. Every single overwhelming memory; every single moment made her heart race. The more she remembered, the faster her heart beat. She closed her eyes, taking in deep breaths, to help calm the pace of each beat. To help ease her mind. She focused on the sounds around her. The waves crashing from a far; the whistling of the breeze. Taking it all in. Moments passed by when she opened her eyes and from a far, an airliner crossed the night sky above her. Immediately, she jumped up and ran towards her car.

She looked at her watch; almost 10pm. "I hope I'm not too late" His flight to London at 11:30pm and the airport was still 45minutes away. She ran even faster towards what could be the beginning of a new promise; a new chapter of her life. What seemed like eternity, she finally reached her car; stumbling just a little bit over her own feet as she reached for the door. Her hands were shaking so badly that she fumbled her keys and dropped them as she tried to start up the vehicle. Taking in a few more breaths, she calmly picked them up and pushed the key into the ignition. With the roar of the engine, she quickly stepped on the gas and headed towards the main highway. The urge to rush flowed through her veins. Adrenaline pumping into her heart. She needed to get there quickly, so she could finally tell him that....that she loved him too.
