A nightmare came true!

The spaceship with a black heart symbol, crashed on the earth's moon! The explosion has turned everything on that ship to dust.

Elena tries to look for survivors but has no luck.

Suddenly she feels a big jerk from the back and she screams in pain, something had hit her badly!

She later realized, she was having a nightmare.

What actually made this dream a nightmare was its consistency. She has been having such dreams every night for the past year or so. Sometimes the spaceship crashes, the other times it lands on earth and his son comes out of it! Then she wakes up.

She being a mother who had lost her husband five years back, loved her only son more than everything in this whole world. That is the reason she gambled on her life to send his son away from earth with all the other human beings two years back.

Apparently, God had reasons not to be kind to her!

The entire human population was migrating to far-away planets because our sun was going to die. Our scientists had estimated another 200 years before things got out of hand. But, for some reason, things happened differently. Even with the advanced technology born out of the great minds of animals(humans included), plants, birds, and the consciousness of all microorganisms of the united earth nobody was able to figure out what went wrong with the sun?

From the year 100,007, the Earth had been manufacturing huge spaceships to transport all the living beings to different parts of the galaxy in the event of the death of the sun. Because of their huge size, they were built and assembled in space stations.

Elena was in charge of this mission, so she decided to be the last to board the spaceship when the United Earth Governing Council decided to finally migrate pertaining to the anomalous explosions which started taking place in the sun.

All was going according to the plan when one of the ship’s fission reactors started malfunctioning. Her gut feeling is that it was not a design flaw, but a conspiracy.

Heavy water — D2O, was needed in a huge amount, luckily the ship had more than sufficient stock of Deuterium (an isotope of hydrogen) D2O could have been easily produced by chemical reaction of deuterium and oxygen. Deuterium in layman terms is a distant cousin of hydrogen. To conserve the oxygen on the ship, she decided to use the atmospheric oxygen from the earth for which she had to enter the earth’s atmosphere.

Due to the explosions in the sun, the earth’s atmosphere had heated up leading to the evaporation of water in huge quantities, so as soon as the spaceship entered the atmosphere water vapor started condensing on the outer surface of the spaceship. which lead to the deposition of a large chunk of mass on the space ship which was as big as the size of a small country. This would not have been a problem had there not been an extreme amount of lightning!

Due to the lightning the outer surface of the spaceship which had water all over it became highly charged which lead to a high voltage electric current flowing on the surface.

Though the ship was designed to sustain such conditions but due to the malfunctioning of the reactor some other systems were damaged too. As a result, for the extraction of oxygen, a vessel had to detach from the ship, extract the oxygen and come back in time to fix the reactor.

This work could have been easily done with the help of Artificial intelligence, but to her shock, this functionality was yet to be added to that vessel. Some work was not completed for this ship, which was minor and was decided to be taken care of during the journey.

She took a call, and decided to Wo-man the vessel and carry out this activity. It took her about an hour to extract the necessary amount of oxygen.

As she was about to return she felt a sudden increase in the temperature, her vessel was gradually but rapidly heating up, she understood that, because their space ship is very big and has better cooling systems, they would realize this change of temperature after some time. Further, everyone would be busy with the reactor.

She made an educated guess, that this increase in temperature was because there was going to be another explosion in the sun.

She ordered the commander of the spaceship to connect the oxygen supply chambers with that of the vessel and to leave the earth’s atmosphere as early as possible.

Her son was also on that ship.

She was monitoring the controls of the ship when she saw an extremely powerful cyclone coming towards their ship.

There was no time, she decided to disconnect the oxygen supply line from her end and ordered the spaceship command to ascend out of the atmosphere.

CODE HELIUM protocol was already in place, it meant no direct order can be disobeyed as that would mean, to save one life millions would have to be put at risk!

Elena was the one who had initiated this protocol 5 days back.

So the spaceship was able to make out of the earth’s atmosphere in time but her vessel was caught in the cyclone.

She was trying hard to manoeuver her vessel through the strong winds of the cyclone. She had a feeling that this might delay her but she will be with the rest of the crew and his son very soon.

But THAT WAS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN!

There was a huge explosion throughout the surface of the sun. As a result, all the space ships were blown away. Even the one carrying her son.

She was still caught in the cyclone.

The explosion was so strong, that ships were blown away out of sight. Elena was unable to contact any of them.

That was followed by another explosion.

This time Elena’s vessel crashed on land and she was hit by a metallic robotic arm that came flying from her backside. This arm was to be installed during the journey.

She became unconscious.

When she woke up, she checked the time two days had passed.

There was no sign of any of the spaceships.

She hoped her son would be safe and all the other creatures were safe.

Now she was left alone on the planet which had been the home for humans for as long as we knew.

Two years had passed, she hoped some of his people would come back looking for her sooner or later. Even if they don’t, she prayed to GOD to keep her son safe And if he could spare some extra kindness, she wanted to see her son once.

There were many questions in her mind to which she had no answers.

After that day what happened that the sun became quiet?

Why do the sun rays feel to be more pleasant and intense at the same time?

The earth is becoming better day by day, in fact, there are some species of plant which seem to have evolved?

Almost all the living beings had left earth that day except a few trees and underwater species that could have lived in the molten lava. They were the only living things to whom she could talk. By the way, she could also talk to her AI buddy, but she preferred the former.

Out of all these things, the most strange thing was her dream, for a whole year, she consistently dreamt of that spaceship that would bring her son. By this time, she could perfectly draw the picture of that spaceship. it was an orange flying saucer with a black heart painted on it in the form of a necklace.

Some time passed, and one day she did not dream of anything.

She was surprised as well as sad. She thought she hoped to see her son.

That day she thought of inspecting her vessel, which she had not done for a while. While she was monitoring for outer space communications, she noticed a spaceship about to enter the earth’s atmosphere!

She could hear some noise from outside.

When she came out she saw a spaceship descending on earth, it appeared to be like the one in her dreams.

She thought this is her chance to see her son again, tears of happiness fell out of her eyes.

Suddenly there was a bright light in the sky, she instantly recognized it to be a laser, Before she could blink an eye the spaceship was turned to ashes!

“No…!” She screamed.

Her hopes were burnt to ashes in front of her eyes.

After a few moments, another spaceship entered the atmosphere and landed on the ground within minutes.

She went back to her vessel which still had some artillery and ammunition left. She established communication with the new spaceship and asked,

“Who are you and why did you shoot that spaceship?”

The reply came, “Before I say anything, I’m going to show you my DNA. Please allow me to establish a visual exchange interface. You have access to my DID (DNA Imaging Device) and here I drop my blood.”

Elena saw that this DNA matched with her!

“Who are you?”

“I am your great-great-grandson!” said the man in the other spaceship

“Well DID readings confirm that! but how is it possible?” inquired Elena.

“In the year 100,009 as per your time, there was a solar explosion, which blew away all the space ships carrying earthlings. Right? Except, a few more things happened. The solar winds not only transported them to a very far location but to those parts of our galaxy where times pass at a different speed. The technology we had was not sufficient to come out of there. There is more I need to tell you, but first, can I come and see you?”

“Of course! What do I call you?” said Elena.

“Generations after generations we have retained the same name — Roy.”
