A mom's love is unexplainable...

***

Mom i’m scared he was crying and he didn’t know why and his hands were shaking so much. His mum, who was still standing in front of him, looked at the little boy worriedly but he just kept going on with his rambling. “Mum, mom you gotta save me!” he shouted. His face twisted into a terrified look before looking up and locking eyes with his mum again. He started to shake even more. She knew exactly what he meant. He was crying because he was so terrified. It took her about 3 seconds to get there. She knelt down next to him and pulled him close and wrapped her arms around him tightly. The little boy cried harder and buried his head further into her neck as he clung tightly to her like a small child clinging onto their mother when they have nightmares.

didn't take him long before he fell asleep again, this time not even a couple of minutes later. She had sat him down on the floor after pulling away from him. Her arms were full of his sleeping body and she could see how tired he must be. After putting some fresh water on a towel to clean him off, she carried him over to his bed and laid him back down gently.

After tucking him in, she went downstairs for tea to give them both some strength before returning. When she returned she found her son lying in a similar position but he was awake. As soon as he saw her he smiled at her sweetly.

“Mummy,” he said quietly.

"yes baby?" She asked as she made her way over to him and sat down next to him on his bed. He immediately moved over so she could sit there next to him. She placed an arm on his shoulder and he rested his head on it and closed his eyes.

He didn't say anything, but she understood what he wanted. “I know, I know baby. I'm here, youre safe now,” she said softly as she gently patted his head and ran her fingers through his soft curls. A contented smile spread across his tiny features. This was her favourite moment. Just the two of them together, being a family once again.

He looked up at her with a big smile. “Mama,” he said excitedly.

She laughed quietly as he spoke, “what are you trying to tell me?” He shook his head slightly and leaned forward to hug her. The doorbell rang and she pulled herself

out of her thoughts. She glanced at the clock

and realized that it had just past 11 pm. They

needed to talk to make sure neither one of them

had been hurt during tonight's attack

"daddy? the little boy asked sleepily. She smiled down at

him, brushing his hair out of his eyes and then cupping his cheek with

her hand.

"Yes darling, do you want me to let

your dad in or would you rather I stay?" He nodded vigorously

and then yawned.

“I'll go get him, but you need to try and get

some rest okay baby?” He nodded again and yawned even louder before falling fast asleep. Mom smiled and stood up to go answer the door. He probably just needed a few hours of sleep

before everything is fine again.

Opening the door, she was surprised to find Tony with his jacket thrown on his shoulders, a dark blue sweater underneath and jeans. His jet black hair was messier than usual and was sticking out at every possible angle and wearing his sunglasses.

He pushed passed her before giving her a quick

hug. "How was your evening?"

"It was good actually;

I got home earlier than expected," she replied, stepping back to allow him in and shutting the door behind him.

He gave her a questioning look, "are we ok?"

"Yeah, we're fine. Just got caught up on work."

She shrugged nonchalantly. "Did you need something?"

"No actually, I came by to check that you are

ok," he responded. His eyes never left hers. She couldn’t help but feel a little nervous under his gaze. He was such a kind and gentle man.

He looked a bit skeptical at that but he simply

shrugged "Well you should be safe. I think I heard someone in the house earlier though?"

Her eyes widened slightly as she looked around

the room quickly, are you sure did Tony! she

exclaimed teasingly

Tony chuckled slightly and walked over to her to tickle her. She laughed so hard before opening up to him about her son's encounter. She explained how worried that made her feel. Tony listened attentively to everything she had told him. He squeezed her hand reassuringly as she finished talking.

She sighed and leaned against him, "What am I gonna do if he ever gets hurt? What will we do?! I can't afford to watch my kid hurt," she whispered sadly.

Tony hugged her even tighter to comfort her, "he will be fine. You did great today. Everything will be fine." He kissed the top of her head and then continued holding her tightly.

They stayed like that for awhile. He rubbed small circles in her palm and hummed softly. Eventually, she pulled away slowly. “Thanks,” she breathed.

“No problem,” Tony replied smiling at her.

She grinned back. “We still don't have any plans for tonight. What do you wanna do? Watch a movie, cuddle on the sofa? Maybe play some video games?” She suggested.
