A Million to Don

A Face Not Even His Mother Could Trust

By David E. PerryPublished 3 years ago 1 min read

Donavan had a face that not even his mother could trust. Therefore, it was not too upsetting when he was stopped by security when he walked in.

“Can I help you Sir?” the security guard asked.

“Why do y’all people always stop me? I have money. I just came to buy a gift for my mother. Is that ok?”

“Go ahead. But we’re watching you.”

Donavan walked away shaking his head and mumbling under his breath, “Every single time.”

He explores the store and finds a beautiful watch. “Hello, Is this a nice gift for a mother”, he says to the clerk

She smiles. He buys the watch and just as he is about to leave, an alarm goes off and Donavan takes off running. As the security guard chases after him, he knocks over a boy in a wheelchair. He runs down the street only to be met by the police. But with no evidence, they let him go.

Weeks pass and there is a knock at his door. In walks the security guard, the police officer, and the boy.

“Here’s your cut. $1,000,000. Although next time I’m the one that gets knocked down, I want a double cut.”
