A MAN NAMED BLOOD

Ep. 01

"PILOT"

FADE IN:

Man covered in blood, looking shocked.

BLOOD (V.O)

It was never supposed to be like this.

If you told me three weeks ago,

That I wouldn’t be finishing Ms. Maringha’s

electrical wiring in her basement

of her 1940’s build home.

And that I wouldn’t celebrate my job well done,

by going and meeting my Cesária

for a drink at our local…

Well, I would have said:

(V.O change to mocking)

Fuck you, man!

It’s been a long week!

I’m damn good at my job and nothing,

and I mean nothing,

will stop me from seeing my Cesária.

(V.O resumes to normal)

But…of course, this was before…

Before, I fell through the crawl space

in Ms. Maringha’s basement.

Which, surprisingly led to an

alternate dimension.

PAN OUT:

Man in room filled with exploded body parts. A woman is frantically trying to find a key in one of the blood soaked jeans.

BLOOD (V.O Cont’d)

And if that wasn’t enough,

apparently here my touch has electrical ability

I mean, I had figured that out pretty early on…

But I didn’t know that if they

held onto me too long…

Well, then, they just…

Blow up.

Woman finds keys and unlocks the door to the room. She rushed over to the man, BLOOD.

MANUELA

Come on! Blood, we have to go!

Manuela shakes Blood. Blood comes out of shock, and looks towards Manuela.

BLOOD (V.O)

Oh, “who is this?”

You might be asking…

This is Manuela…

She fell through a portal to this

dimension as well… A different one,

But still from my universe,

or dimension, or whatever.

Only here, her superpower is that:

She used to be a mannequin…

Yup. She was a plastic human shaped

object, before she fell through…

So her power is the ability

To be human…

OPENING CREDITS AND THEME TUNE

BLOOD exits the shower room in bathroom and towel in hand drying ears. He approached MANUELA, who was organising

BLOOD

Yuck! I even got it in my ears!

MANUELA

Luckily they were only humanoid drones…

That,

MANUELA grimaces and gestures to BLOOD, then returns to pouring over a map on the desk she is standing at.

MANUELA (Cont’d)

Disgusting!

Her face grows more concentrated.

MANUELA (Cont’d)

The Queen has to be nearby to have

controlled that many of her

drones that well.

BLOOD

I don’t get it, though.

Why come after me?

Everyone we’ve spoken to have said

that the Queen keeps to herself.

In her hive. And won’t be an issue.

Our CLIENT even told us as much!

MANUELA

Either their is a conspiracy and

everyone we’ve spoken to

over the last two weeks have lied to us.

Or…

There is something about you,

being a human from another dimension,

or being a human with a penchant and skills,

which are electrical—she may like?

Which got her curious?

I mean, we haven’t met anyone else here

with electrical abilities.

BLOOD

God her curious?!

The drones were being electrocuted

to death, and still, she made them

hold onto me.

Trying to pour whatever that was

down my throat.

That’s not curious…

That’s straight up bee-bitch crazy!

MANUELA (smirking)

You might say that she is a

Bee-tch!

BLOOD stops drying his hair and looks unimpressed. He walks over to the maps and points to a spot.

BLOOD

There! That hallway,

before we were swarmed and chased

into the Honey Room,

I felt an electrical impulse.

It was like a pulling force.

Not very strong, but enough.

The pull was pulling me this way.

BLOOD’s finger swipes the directions. MANUELA

MANUELA

Hmm…So the Queen is probably down

one of these hallways.

Good to know if we ever go back down there.

BLOOD

Wait. Don’t we still need to a sample of

the honey for our CLIENT?

MANUELA

No need.

MANUELA smiles, nonchalantly. She skips over to the corner of the room and opens a drawer. She pulls out a jar of amber honey. MANUELA looks proud.

MANUELA

While the humanoid drones were

trying to convert you;

that’s what the ruby-red honey does;

I slipped off and collected this!

BLOOD

Convert me?! How… Why the hell

did you leave me to be converted,

and why the hell didn’t you try to stop it?

MANUELA

It was in our CLIENT’S notes…

MANULA pulls out a file, near where the honey was. She walks over and hands it to BLOOD.

MANUELA (Cont’d)

Right here. The CLIENT wanted amber honey,

for its health elixir properties.

The Queen doesn’t have it as a high priority…

Should be docile—winter months and all.

Queen only cares for ruby-red and

honey that is seal-brown.

Red for converting,

and brown for feeding.

Amber, or golden,

are the remains of digested and excreted

Honey.

BLOOD

Firstly: EW!

Our client wanted digested and excreted honey!

Secondly:

You still left me to get converted!

MANUELA

I honestly…I thought you knew.

I thought you were buying time for me.

It takes a lot of the honey to convert.

Just maybe, stay away from flowers…for now…

BLOOD looks unimpressed.

MANUELA (Cont’d)

Besides! With this honey,

we can trade it with our CLIENT.

They’ll give us the Cliff’s Notes of the:

Book of Curses and Portals: How to

Enchant the Elements.

And then,

we are one step closer to

getting you home!

BLOOD’S unimpressed face somehow drops to even more disheartened.

BLOOD

The CLIENT…is giving us…

The CLIFF NOTES!?

What happened to:

“Oh this client is legit

and has the book we need” ?!?

We risked out lives for Cliff Notes?!

The Minotaurs were scary and hard enough!

The Slime of Oswold—deeply unpleasant

—and to which you must NEVER bring up again!

Then the Queen and her humanoid drones…

They tried to turn me!

MANUELA

Oops…Did I forget to mention

that it wasn’t the full book?

END SCENE.
