"Nobody can hear a scream in the vacuum of space, or so they say".... "Knock off the chatter, Dobbins and keep a tight formation! We are flying into the Gaylar Sector" said squad leader Johnston. "Our Fighters cannot maneuver well and the final specifications your fancy brother rigged on the space locks have not been fully tested. One wrong move and you'll be a pop-sickle in space, and I'm writing sad letters to your love ones." "You have to admit it, Matthew out did himself this time! Who would think the Navy could fly combat fighters into outer space and allow them to fly like back on Earth?" Ryan shaking his head as the squadron of fighter jets patrolled the Gaylar Sector searching the uncharted traces of energy picked up from the USS Pontiac, miles below floating on the wild sea of the North Atlantic.

The squad of young and some salty fighters were the first of the Navy's kind. As a team this squad carried out over 140 missions with each airmen raking up at least 12 confirmed dog fighting kills and some maybe more. Well that is according to who is keeping score. This wild, but cool and collected bunch was from all over and they represent America's finest aviators, now exploring space and the unknown. There was Michael, the hotshot kid from Baltimore, MD who was not afraid to back down from a challenge. Ryan, from South Dallas as tough as they come. Korbin, also from Dallas who knew how to land an DC-7 on a Aircraft Carrier if he had to. Rachel and Raquel, the twins from East LA who knew how to hold their own and didn't need any help from a man. Then there was Chuck, from lower PA, with only three missions left and he will hang it up. The first flying couple in all of Naval Aviation, Jody and Lisa manned the only pilot/co-pilot fighter in the squad. Lisa is the brains and responsible for monitoring the navigational system, which help controlled the fighters in space and gave them capabilities to transport from the stratosphere into deep space and allow re-entry back to Earth without a burning re-entry. This system is called the "Ultimate Transition" doctored by the great Matthew Dobbins, founder of HazMat Tech. Then there was Shane, from Detroit who just knew no lady in the solar system could resist him. Kevin, the honest one from Portland, who led the squad in prayer before battle. Kyle, from the hard streets of Philly. James from the heart of Boston, was second in command and with leadership skills of Chesty Puller. Shelia, from the south side of Atlanta, with a cockpit full of mirrors. Kelly from East Orange, NJ with an attitude that couldn't quit. Last, but not least, the fearless leader, Conner Johnston. Top of his class, right out of Topeka, KS and with 35 confirmed kills and squad leader of the the "Floating Fourteen". Toughest and most decorated fly boys and girls the Navy has to offer.

However, this assignment drew different attention to the "Double-F's" skill set! They are on a research mission and with the aid of HazMat Tech, those jets could reach new limits to space and not suffer burn up during re-entry to Earth's atmosphere. Retrofitted with thermal technology, the jets boosters and operational parts could not freeze in space's subzero temperatures.

As the Pontiac patrols the Northern Atlantic.

Meanwhile, back on the USS Pontiac! A scheduled visit from Matthew Dobbins, founder of HazMat Tech, was tasked to display the technology of the "Ultimate Transition". "Dr. Dobbins, your work on the UT software is very impressive! I cannot wait to see the board's facial expressions when you display this trend-setting technology. You have and impressive family! Your brother up for promotion and one day will be Admiral of his own boat, and your sister making moves in Washington, your father must be proud!" Admiral Flowers just couldn't stop with the family accolades. "It all starts in one hour, Admiral!" Matthew replied. "Thanks for the hospitality, Sir! My father served, but he never spent any time on a boat this big!" as Mathew circled in amazement looking at all the jets and Naval crew at work, he failed to realize that he was deep at sea, and could not see land in any direction. "Explain this Tech, son!" As the Admiral put his arms around Matthew's shoulder. "I want a sneak peak!" as he gave a silent giggle. "Well the tech has a simple method to it all, Sir! as Matthew went into teaching mode! "The stationary boxes form a new magnetic field of a triangle, which allows the jets to launch into parts of space we never encountered. On the other side, the jets enter into space but the door creates a low magnetic field which allow the jets to maneuver as if they are flying right back here on Earth." "What is the range in space, ole boy?" as the Admiral had a puzzled look on his face. "The range is about 100,000 million square miles, give or take a football field, Sir!" As Matthew steps back to deliver the "bang" about his tech, "The best part is the re-entry! The jets can come back into Earth's atmosphere and not have to worry about burning up and will be placed miles before the Pontiac for a safe landing!" The Admiral looked and stopped for a moment to said, "I can remember a time in the fleet we had to push-start these things, now look at you! The face of new technology!" With the "Double F" squad due back to the Pontiac later this evening, it gave Matt and the Admiral time to explore the carrier after the presentation for a walk-through to plan for future upgrades to keep up with the changing times of the world and the developing armed forces of military across the globe.

The presentation was quick and easy! The fleet command was very impressed and admire the presentational skills of Dr. Dobbins and tried to instantly recruit him into the Navy.

Meanwhile, in the deep milky way of space...

The Floating Fourteen on space patrol

"We have two hours before return, let's make this count!" said Conner. The patrol was dead and slow, with little to offer on the excitement end. Not so fast! A cluster of asteroids are floating just left of the formation and appears to be drifting near the "Floating Fourteen". Strange enough to have appeared out of nowhere as if they were deep in space (they are in space, wake up reader). "Sir, those asteroids are heading toward the link of the Ultimate Transition. If there is significant damage, we might not be able to make it back home and we are low on fuel." said Michael with a concerned tone in his voice. Then Ryan gave the group a solid shout and said, "We got this guys, lets head for the belt before its too late!" The cluster of asteroids started to pick up speed as the formation of jets raced toward the transfer point with all hope on making it back. The window was closing as the jets were at top speed, trying to beat the asteroids from turning this into a one-way trip if the UT technology is damaged. "Lisa, start the sequence, this is going to be tight!" yelled Jody! "Got it, Luv! Next stop the USS Pontiac! Are you boys and girls ready?" as Lisa raised her voice with excitement. The window of opportunity was quickly closing, as the cluster got closer and seem to have gained an edge on the fourteen helpless jets. Kyle said, "Its time to rock and roll Double-F! Let's get home!" A loud crash came as one of the asteroids made it to the transition spot before the jet formation. The "Ultimate Transition" started to activate as it generates and powering up for transition. "This is going to be a mutha, everyone hold on, here we go!" Conner said with confidence. "Everyone, on my count! Hit your after burners and fly like it was yesterday! Let's go Floating Fourteen, tight formation!" Conner had a look of concern as if this was going to be too close of a call. "Five, Four, Three, Two, One; Punch it Double F!" As Conner never scream like this before. Another crash as the second asteroid hit another transition box right at the time all of the jets made it through.

Did the Floating Fourteen really make it back?

"What in the world? I didn't know it was the air show today. Hey, where is the Pontiac?" said Michael with a confused look on his face. "Wait a minute, these guys are getting into attack formation. What are they doing?" said Chuck with a concern tone in his voice. "Can anyone communicate with them? My radio is down!" said Conner. "No boss, my panel is cooked, it says the local time is..... wait a minute!" as Shelia gasped with hesitation. The Pontiac was nowhere to be found and the Floating Fourteen returned home, but it appears they fell back in time a few years. "Boss, my time panel says 1942, where the heck are we?" said Shane. "Not where, but when? Not to mentioned, we are about to dance with a squadron of Mustangs!" with a tremble in Kell's voice.

The Fourteen had little time to respond and time was running out. With communication down and a blast back into time, the crew was presented with a situation they have never encountered before and about to face some of the finest airmen they read about and have great admiration for.

"We have to find a place to land and figure out our next move" said Johnston. "Who knows Morris Code? We need to try to communicate with this squadron before they shoot us down. We don't have enough fuel to out fly them, and we respect them too much to shoot them down flying far superior fighter jets." With a confused look on Conner's face, he never faced a decision like this and all he could think about is getting back to space to solve this current problem. "Sir, it looks like we are about 1250 miles out from land and I don't think we can make it." Ryan said as if his head was down and hopeless.

"Kevin, I think you need to send one up! We are in a tight spot, and I don't know if were gonna make it!" The squad leader looked hopeless and the fate of the Floating Fourteen was left without answers on how to get back to space and return back to their original place in time.
