Alis was allowed to rest for a week, but for this, his mother would have to do her son's share of the work as well, which meant more hard work than before. For a week Alis lay face down on the same bed of straw. His mother would go to the mines before sunrise in the morning and work hard there till late at night. Slowly, Alis's wounds started healing, but the spark burning in her heart, filled with pain and resentment, had now turned into a flame.
Alis staggered once again towards those mines, where the life of all the slaves was like a thin fiber, which could break at any time.
As soon as he entered the mine, he saw everything that he had expected, people drenched in sweat working hard, no one had any hope, faint smiles would come on their lips when they looked at each other's faces, their bones were grinding in these mines, their hearts had lost hope of any better change.
He met the same old man again at the entrance of the mine. The old man smiled and said to Alis, "You are the spark that this great Eridor needs, little warrior." Alis looked at the old man with eyes full of surprise, but he said nothing.
But after some time the old man came to him again. This time Alis asked him, "How long have you been working here?" Ever since my hands and my heart could not muster the courage to break these chains of slavery." The old man said emotionlessly. "But you can free this great Eridor from these evil demons?" he said.
Then suddenly, a soldier came from behind and started beating the old man with a whip; with each blow, the old man's painful screams echoed against the walls of the mine. "Blood was oozing out of his torn skin and leaking onto the ground. Soon, he fell to the ground, soaked in blood. His eyes were open, still shining, and those eyes were gazing at Alis." The old man said to Alis in a few broken words, "You know, little warrior, these evil soldiers, these chains, they can never bind you; you have to show the true path of life to the souls drowning in fear and despair here...
And he suddenly became completely silent, groaning in pain. Alis was not at all shaken by the brutal scene he had just witnessed. He screamed in anger and pounced on the soldier. He pulled out the dagger hanging on the soldier's waist and stabbed him in the chest. "A deep scream of pain came out of the soldier's mouth and he fell down on the ground. Alis came out of the mine roaring, challenging all those soldiers. He pounced on another soldier and killed him too. Similarly, he injured another soldier too.
Suddenly, a soldier shot an arrow from behind, which pierced Alis's chest, pierced his heart, and came out on the other side. "A slight painful scream came out of his mouth and he fell on his knees on the ground. His head slowly bent down and rested on his knee. A spray of blood burst out of his mouth. And the soldiers and slaves present there saw this scene, they were stunned to see such bravery of a child. The soldiers were still staring at Alis lying on the ground, terrified and surprised. Then the slaves, who had lost all will to live, looked at each other.
There was such courage in her small body that it ignited a passion for freedom in thousands of hearts. For the first time, lines of anger and courage, which were suppressed till now, appeared on the faces of the slaves.
They attacked the soldiers with whatever tools they had in their hands, and in no time, the rebellion spread throughout the area.
A war broke out all around; the slaves cared nothing for their lives; they wanted to end everything somehow, "either their exi stence or that slavery. The battle continued for a long time, the spark of hope that Alis had lit had now turned into a flame. Courage was in the heart of every person who now dreamed of being free from the slavery of those years. Soon, corpses were lying all around, from both sides. But miraculously, the weak, hungry, and helpless slaves won that battle. Almost all the soldiers were killed, or captured. And some fled the battlefield.
Suddenly, everything became quiet, and all the people who were still alive gathered around the dead body of Alis," he paid a heartfelt tribute to their brave little warrior. Then Alis's mother came to Alis, breaking through the crowd, her eyes were wet with tears of pride. She kept looking at her son's dead body for some time, tears came out of her eyes, but she did not dare to cry. Finally, she put a small piece of gold in Alis palm, she touched her son's cheeks lovingly for the last time, "and slowly his neck bent and his injured body became lifeless. She became completely calm, wrapped in a peaceful aura.

Beautiful 🖊️📕♦️♦️
Life ~ like thin fibre… I love that you always go outside the box when it comes to describing what a moment or a feeling is akin to, I can’t say that enough. Oh my gosh ‘His eyes were open, still shining, and those eyes were gazing at Alis.’ Gosh this part in the story is bringing the feels. It’s so intense, so much so that I wish I could do something to save the old man. It took an arrow for them to come back to their senses and fight against oppression, this story has such depth that I am just in awe of the progress and the character development. Finding strength when hungry, wow wow wow. Very inspiring. 👏🏽👌🏽♥️🤗
My heart broke so much for Alis 🥺 Loved your story!
