A Cure

For the past two years all I could hear was gun shots, the yelling and screaming of my fellow soldiers. The lights and sounds from the bombs and flares would play in my head day in and day out, with little rest I remained strong. Finally, it's over the war is over we have won, now it’s time to go home to our love ones. But little did we know our love ones was fighting their own war with a unknow illness that was spreading across the world quickly.

Lieutenant Black, called the commander as they just reach the base. You have a call you need to take, as Lieutenant Black put the phone to his ear, hello he answered hi is this Mr. Black ask the doctor on the other end, yes this is? Hi sir I'm Dr. Kim who's been treating your wife for a unknow illness that have broken out we are not sure how to treat it but we are doing our best to treat her. We are not sure how much time she has left may I speak with her ask Black, please hold on, the doctor pasted his wife the phone. “Hello honey is that you” yes dear I'm here, as he can hear the sickness in his wife voice tears filled his eyes. Honey; I'm so sorry I will be there very soon just stay strong and wait for me. Honey I'll try my best she said with a cough. I love you honey she said to him I love you to dear Black replied before hanging up.

I'm sorry sir I was unaware that this was going on being as though we had no communication while at war said the commander. Thanks sir, I just need to get to my wife right away said Black we will be leaving in the next 30 mins to get back to the city, again I'm very sorry said commander as he walked away. As Black sat in his thought, he reached down into his shirt for his lucky charm a Heart shape Locket given to him by his wife right before he lifted two years ago. As he held the locket in his hand, he began to cry please my dear stay strong I will be there soon.

As Black feet touched the ground his name was called Mr. Black, please come with me this way said Dr. Kim at the safe camps. As they walk Dr. Kim filled him in with an update on his wife and explained to him what had happen a year ago. A year ago, your wife and her team were working on an experiment, they wanted to find a way to heal the human instantly the came close to finding a treatment but then things went spiraling out of control. Someone had mixed two of the wrong test samples and created a deadly gas the soon started making everyone sick.

The poison control had to shut the lab down and the areas around it but soon the gas was in the air and could no longer be controlled. We were able to move as many people to our safe tents as quickly as possible to stop the spread. There are still parts of the city that are contaminated but we have people suited up and trying to get it under control. Your wife was two of the servers from the lab everyone else did not make it. She is still very ill but she’s very strong, thank you said Black as he walks toward his wife.

Tracy dear I'm here, he said as he laid his head on her chest and begun to weep. Honey I have you missed you so much said Tracy as she put her arms around her husband's head. I need you to be strong my love we will get through this said Black as he lifts his head and looked his wife in the eyes. She smiles your always so brave she said to Black before falling to sleep. She needs her rest now Mr. Black as she is growing weaker, Lieutenant Black and Dr. Kim walked out the tent, what can I do to help her? there has to be something. We aren’t sure, we have tried all kinds of medicine but nothing seems to be work for her or anyone for that matter.

What about the treatment she was working on asked Black? Well ever since the break out and everyone started to get ill no one have been allowed in the area let alone the lab. Dr. Kim told Black well, we have to try, it has to be something there. Have you tried to ask my wife about it? Yes, but she is too ill to remember anything at this time, please sir I understand you want your wife to get well but you just got home from the war you must rest go to our safe tent and I'll call you, if need be, concerning your wife. Black sights and thank Dr. Kim before walking away.

Black arrived to the home where he once lived at with his wife. Once inside he said to his self-it's no way I'm staying in another tent. He began cleaning the house, then he fixed his self-something to eat. As he sat at their dining room table alone, he couldn’t help but to think of his wife Tracy. He soon went into the bedroom, he sat on the edge of the bed in deep thought before showering. Black laid in bed thinking of life with his wife before all of this. I can't loss the love of my life he thought to his self before bursting out in tears. It wasn’t long before he cried his self to sleep holding his wife pillow.

The next morning Lieutenant Black watched the news, it was so terrible the world was at its end, with no answers to how to stop the worlds apocalyptic dystopia. As he sat in thoughts, I need to get out this house he said grabbing his keys. Black drove around town into areas that was now vacant, he continues to drive until he came to a huge building. This looks very familiar he said coming to a stop but it's hard to tell what building it was without a name, plus half the building has fallen apart on one side. Black decided to check it out, as he got closer there was a bad odor, wow what is that smell? It’s the smell of dead bodies and chemicals someone said. Black looked around who's there he shouted Dr. Moore a man answers as he walked up to black from behind a wall. I'm sorry if I frighten you, I use to work here I'm just trying to figure out what went wrong.

Hi I'm Lieutenant Black what is this place? Well, it uses to be a laboratory, where we studied different types of cells. We were working on something big, when one of my colleagues didn’t read the labels on the test tube right and mixed the wrong substance together creating a very harmful gas. My wife; she uses to work here her name is Tracy she is very ill from the gas how can I treat her, said Black. I’m sorry but unfortunately, I don’t know. I don’t know the two substance that were mixed together therefore I don’t know how to treat it. It, what is it? Asked Black, well the gas creates a fungus in the human body that eat away at the body from the inside out.

You wife has a very strong immune system, in people who have weak immune systems they died within days some time hours. Your wife on the other hand didn’t start showing signs of infection until a few months ago. So, you know my wife asked Black yes, she is my boss she was over the while experiment said Dr. Moore. I have been visiting her since she went ill, even though I have not found a cure for the fugus I been give her herbal tea to help her immune system. If we can get in the lab, we may find something but it could be dangerous if we do not wear the proper gear explained Moore. Ok so we can meet back here tonight, I must go check on my wife said black. Sure, ill grab the gear we will need and meet you here tonight. The two shook hands and went their own ways.

As black arrived to the safe camp thing were in complete chaos, what's going on Lieutenant Black asked a guard who was moving the patients out the camp? We have been told that the gas is still spreading we must evacuate the area. Where will you be relocating to too one of our safe camps up in the mountains, the air is cleaner there. Black rush to see where Tracy was, just as he arrived, they were putting her on the transport bed. Black kissed her on the forehead, I will meet you there my love. Ok she answered nodding her head.

As Black walked out the camping tent, he was meet by Dr. Moore. I need to talk with you right away ok follow me to my house we can talk there. Once they were inside Moore told Black he thinks he found a cure. So, I was able to get hold of the video footage of the lab the day everything went up in smoke or should I say gas he said with a giggle. I was able to recognize the label of one of the test tubes that was used in the gas break out. The good news is that it's part of the cure we were working on, that would help expand the human life. But I will need some of Tracy’s blood so I can test it before using it on her. I'll have Dr. Kim at the camp grounds drawl some then I'll meet you at the lab.

Lieutenant Black got a call he needs to get to the safe camp right away. Lucky he was already on the way to the camp. Once he arrived Dr. Kim told him she doesn’t have much time the fungus was spreading. Black rush to the bed were his wife laid. Tracy, can you hear me hold on to this he said placing the heart Locket in her hand, you have the lucky charm please keep fighting he whispered in her ear with tears in his eyes. Black asked Dr. Kim for a sample of her blood. Dr. Kim told him she just drawled some, even though she could not give it to him she did she wanted to help Tracy.

Black meet Dr. Moore at the lab the two searched through the rubble I think I found something said Black handing a small bottle to Moore this is it he said excitedly. I don’t have the thing I need here to make the cure but they do at the camp. They both headed back to the safe camp to prepare the cure. Black went to Tracy and told her she was going to be well soon. Moore worked as fast as he could but very careful, she will need more treatment but this is a start handing Lieutenant Black a small tub with a pink liquid. Have Tracy drink this and it will start destroying the fugus in her immune system right away. It will also protect her until her next treatment, thank you doctor said Black as he walked over to Tracy. Here my dear drink this, you're going to be ok he said holding her tight.

Things just got better, looks like we have some work to do Dr. Kim said to Dr. Moore with a smile. Yes, indeed the world needs this cure the apocalyptic was finally coming to an end. Said Dr. Moore.
