Friday, May 24,2013, started like every other Friday. Awake, shower, coffee, dog out, dress, off to work. This Friday after work I was picking up two of my 5 grandson’s to spend the weekend. Nothing new there, except these visits allowed them to see their mom. Bipolar off meds, addicted to Opioids, and running a muck but never missed a visit sober clean with her children. She had 4 beautiful children. Three boys, one girl. To tell my story, her story we must travel back in time to reach 8:32 pm May 22, 2013. The day that changed our lives forever. Will you join me on this journey of life, mystery, murder, grief and healing?
Wednesday, May 22, 2013, Misty had texted me several times at work needing to talk. I responded can’t right now because my boss who sat right next to me was a bitch. Then she called, I told her I would call her on my way home.
At 5:30 I walked out of my office, got in my truck, got through traffic to toll road packed in Plano Texas and my phone rang. It was her. She said Mom, I can get the guy I’m staying with thrown out of his rent house, we can get the kids, all move in, and there is acreage for horses, She and I loved horses and I wanted to use them for therapy. I said, Misty who is this person? You can’t go around getting people kicked out of their homes they will hurt you. Your not thinking straight you need to come to my house, let’s get you well, we will figure it out. But she persisted, No I’m talking to landlord already, I’m getting him kicked out. It will be great. I said, Misty honey you can’t. She said , yes I can Mom I have it all under control, I sai, Misty Ann No no No, The phone disconnected that was last words I ever spoke to my daughter.
Two days went by, her brother not I could reach her about visiting for the weekend with her kids. I got off work on Friday, drove to ROWLETT to pick up boys, headed back to Aubrey. Still tried to call, left messages, then it was full, voicemail full. My daughter never got off her phone. I had horrible feeling in my stomach. I got home, pulled in driveway, son sitting outside and my phone rang. Strange number. They simply ask is this Misty’s mom. Didn’t ask my name. I said, yes. Nightmare began.
The guy on the other end said he had loaned her his truck on Thursday morning. I knew that was lie because she had been driving it all week. He said he had set her up a cleaning job and she had never come back and he was reporting truck stolen. My son overheard said something wrong calling police. I told the man I knew he was lying that I knew she had the truck all week and that she told me she was going to clean a house on Wednesday night at 7. He said. Well whatever I’m reporting truck stolen. I said. Do what you need to do but I need to find my daughter. What address did you send her too. He aaid., I’m calling police first I’ll call you back. Well because my son had called first they wouldn’t let him report it stolen only unauthorized use, he called back very angry. I said, sorry now what address did you send my daughter too. He hung up but kept calling back. We got frantic. We realized he had her phone.
