The E'zy-Peazy Cortical Island Archipelago

Not only are there more fish in the sea, but there are more fishes in the sea. For example, there are all of the cartilaginous fishes. And all the big fish in all those small ponds.

How many crawfish can a crawfish craw when a crawfish starts crawing fish? Sucking the heads is all the answer you need.

Are octopusses octopussi or octopussy?

There are fish(es) with good taste, and there are fish(es) that tast(e) good--just ask Charli(e). He's one of several tun(æ) who question antediluvian reality.

So, since we don't get paid scale here, if I'm a little light--would you spot me a fin?

How many one-legged races can an eight-legged cephalopod win if there are still potato(e)s in its potato sacks? And where'd that "e" go? You should know...'cause you say potato, but I say potatœ. Especially when it's a hot one. Dan Quayle says potatœ. (It's a potato thing--you might not get it. It's a Republican thing, while a potateau is a Cajun thing.)

Pota'toad hot enough for you? You should see what it's like in Australia. But then, you already know--or at least find out by calling someone there--they're into the next day, so they can tell you how your day went. Based on that info(e), watch where you park--don't wanna get pota'towed.

That's so freaky. But if you think that's crazy, just thank God it's a free world--otherwise, I'd tell you to float in the air and you'd HAVE to do it. (Every day I pass people who don't accept it's a free world, so I just bat those floating corpses out of the way on the way to a duty-free-world shop.)

So, where--you might well ask--am I going with this?

Sometimes you just have to take the synaptic pirogue out and revisit all of your cortical islands--those self-contained, isolated thoughtglobs that went nowhere--but which lie there as little crumbs of gray matter, in abeyance. Try to bridge them into some sort of sensible archipelago, but be prepared for disappointment when you discover only swamps.

That's about it. Time for my bootheels to be a'wanderin'. My cortical islands are closing their borders. (It's a Title 42 thing--you might not get it.)

AUTHOR'S NOTeS:

Every now and then I peruse my "ideas" draft with a list of brain farts that accumulated and went nowhere. Today I try to bridge them, interconnect them, but like any true archipelago, it's a mess. A veritable plate of sphagghtiE, thrown at the 4th wall--and here's what stuck! I figure I could either sweep them all out of my mind or, as I've done here, just use an airblower.

Interesting and delicious content. Keep posting more

  • Hahahahahahahahha this was so fun! I loved the crawfish tongue twister because it reminds me of the woodchuck tongue twister which happens to be the only tongue twister that I've mastered hehehehe. Loved your story!

Another wonderfully original tale, Gerard. When I was a baker we had an old joke about baker special bread. What is baker special bread you ask. At the end of the day, the baker sweeps the flour off the floor and makes one last loaf with a little bit of everything in it!
