Where In The World Would My Children And I Be Without My Mother?

I already know the answer to my own question! That place is somewhere that we never want to visit again...

By Crystal-Lee BorowskiPublished 5 years ago 3 min read

Let me tell you a bit about the situation that my children and I found ourselves in of recent. We are some of the fortunate victim’s of Domestic Violence. Rather should I say, we are survivor’s of a very traumatic past.

Sadly, it took for the Department of Child Safety to intervene and remove my children from my care for two and a half long, heart-wrenching weeks and if it wasn’t for my selfless, courageous and devoted mother, it would have been a whole lot longer.

So, my mother put her hand up to apply for Kinship Carer of my 3 beautiful children, Achilles who is 8 years old, Diezel who is 2.5 years old and Taleeyah who is only 13 weeks of age. Mum did this without asking any questions, not a slight gist of hesitation nor any delay. She literally, at that very moment, became my super hero.

We were all blessed with the ability to reside at my parents place so we didn’t have to separate. Mum supported me and her grandchildren beyond words and she tackled every challenge head on with me that Child Safety threw our way.

It has now been almost 3 months since the Department of Child Safety became involved and in just a few short days, they will be placing the children back in my care and we can continue moving forward on our new journey together.

We love you!

I would also like to share the Facebook post I wrote for my mother on Mother's Day 2019:

My message to my beautiful mum for Mother's Day...

Thank you for all the love you have given and continue to give me...

You are far more than just a mother...

To me, you are my best friend, my lifeline, my therapist, my role model, my guidance counsellor...

Mum, you are still the one person I want to comfort me when I am scared, sick or injured and you probably always will be...

The thought of one day not being able to call upon you when I need you (and only you) really terrifies me...

Who will I turn to? Who will know how to nurture me the way you always have? Who will know exactly what to say when I need some reassurance or some valuable advice?

Mum, it wasn't until I became a mother myself that I truly realised just how much effort goes into raising a little person...

How you managed to raise 7 of them just baffles me...

You are the one I give all the credit to for me being able to be a good mother to my children...

The values, beliefs, standards and morals you instilled in me are the same ones that I teach to your grandchildren...

They are honest, humble and hearty and I pray that my children pass them onto their children and so on and so on...

Mum, for all the sacrifices you made, for all the support you gave, for your dedication to being a parent and the daily tasks you had to complete, you did it all so flawlessly, despite the struggles...

I know that life was hard for you at times Mum...

There was heartache, there was disappointment, there was abandonment, there were times when you just felt like giving up but you never did...

Instead you got up, put on a brave face and selflessly you soldiered on throughout the day...

Thank you mum, you could have just thrown in the towel and walked away from your responsibilities but you never did...

As your daughter, I promise to always respect you, never lie to you, continue to show you gratitude and forever love and appreciate you...

So mum, if you are ever feeling as though you didn't give enough or weren't good enough or like you may not have put in enough, just remind yourself that you did what you could, with what you had and in the best way you knew how to...
