The story about the day I took my sister and I skydiving on a day that we probably shouldn't have! Before I begin with this crazy story-I want to say that I didn't do this on purpose! You'll know what I am talking about later.
I decided to take my sister skydiving for her birthday, but I also wanted it to be a surprise. Her birthday is February 14th, so on her card I told her that I was taking her skydiving but that it would be a little later. I am the kind of person that likes to give my friends/family experiences verses just a tangible gift that after a while they won't use or end up in the trash. So instead of a PlayStation or an at home spa treatment you'll get something like skydiving, parasailing, horseback riding-things of that nature. Most likely always something you have never done before. That makes it more exciting! Its a name that I have built for myself in my family. Let me tell you.....its a hard title to keep!
Let's fast forward months later, and I literally wake up one day and say "Yup it is time! Today is the day!". So I call my sister, lets call her Elizabeth, and ask her when her next day off. It is Sunday, which at that point it was three days away. I said "Perfect! Don't make any plans for that day I have a surprise for you!". So she has three days to roast in this news. She guessed where I was taking her but of course I wouldn't confirm until the day of because that is the point of a surprise. She was freaking out to her friends about what this surprise was. Her friends are trying to calm her and say don't worry its probably just taking you to get your nails done. She looks at them dead in they eyes and says, " No, no no no. I don't think you understand. I surprise from her could be gauged by mani/pedi all the way to skydiving! That is the limit. You never know."
Low and behold it was skydiving!! I picked her up at her apartment and headed that way. Of course previously I had told her what to wear and eat-I didn't want her to have a greasy all American breakfast then jump out a plane at 12,000 feet! Now we get there and we are signing our life away with all the paper work. Then.......We realize what day it is.
Can you imagine out of all the days months in the year....what day would not be a good idea to go skydiving? Some people have guessed winter time, labor day, fourth of July. If you guessed any of those, you would be wrong.
Out of all the days I could have chosen, it happened to be September 11th! How ironic. This is what I was talking about earlier, how I didn't intentionally pick this day to go skydiving. It was literally just her next day off so I decided that we would go.
So, yes to answer your question we did jump out of an airplane at 12,000ft on September 11th. Also, yes, weird things just happen to me. So, their will be plenty more stories to come.
Afterward, we got a bite to eat and ride this high! If you have never been skydiving I recommend it to all! It was just a thrill that you can't really get anywhere else.
