Unconditional Love

There once lived a little girl whose smile lit up any room she wandered into. People often forgot her name and referred to her as the girl with the smile. She carried this title with great pride, often wondering “why doesn’t everyone smile like I do?” Seeing how her simple smile made such an impact on those who met her gave her a sense of purpose in this world. It was not until one day she experienced such great sadness that her smile was lost on waves of darkness as gloom grew over her like a cloak of dread.

Who was this girl anyway? She no longer knew. Her identity had been swept away without her consent and it remained that way for quite some time. See, this girl was special. She was not just brought into this world like most little boys and girls. For her parents, she was a dream come true. Her mommy and daddy could not bring her into the world like most babies are. They had to be so patient and wait for their perfect baby girl to be brought to them. When that day came, the Heavens opened, and the birds sang. All was right in the world. This girl was as pure and innocent as they come; caring so deeply for anything that lived and breathed. What nobody could have predicted was for her innocence to be stripped causing her soul to be lost.

The real tragedy was that this little girl grew without purpose or love for herself. She realized at a young age she could now use that beautiful smile for evil to make sure nobody could see the pain on the inside because they could not possibly understand she thought. Strangers continued to awe at the beauty that was now her mask. While those who she loved most became witness to the bitterness that consumed her as she attempted to navigate such emptiness that took place of where her soul should have been able to flourish as intended. This little girl, now a woman eventually began to take back her life and that is where the true fairytale began; within herself.

For years she spent divulging in activities that would bury her soul deeper and deeper. Allowing only to be loved on a surface level, while continuing to love so deeply it consumed her. She thought she was trying everything to fill this void that became her identity. It was not until one day she decided to ask out loud, “who am I?” and the universe responded loudly. Images of a young girl running among the wildflowers without a care in the world, smiling from ear to ear, came burning within her mind. It was then she realized, that was a part of her that had been ignored for far too long.

It was then she realized that what she needed was to get to know that innocent little girl within and that is exactly what she did. Oh, and when she did, beauty and peace now consumed her. Nothing had changed except her mindset, but once she began feeding her soul, everything fell into place. She no longer lived just to survive. She lived to love and allowed herself to finally be loved as she deserved. She met a man who fueled her soul further, allowing her to be unapologetically her as she was always meant to be. Together, they created a life made from the most pure, innocent love that went beyond the realms of this world. That woman and that man had searched for thousands of lives to find each other and in this life, they had. For the first time an indescribable connection collided to form a love so blindingly uncomfortable for mere humans to fully comprehend on this Earth. It did not matter to them for they knew what they shared was what made a life worth living far beyond the expiration date of the vessels they consumed for now. The life they created together, the little boy that came from them, grew to be a man emitting such powerful love, he would save the world from self-destruction. It can be learned from this story that nothing in life is a coincidence. That little girl was born to lose her soul only to fight for it back and be rewarded with an exceptional kind of love and from that love could come a soul so genuine it changed the non-believers to believers and the world could come together as one.

I am a 27-year-old woman who created this original bedtime story for my son who is my little miracle. This story was created to be a constant reminder that you cannot stop bad things from happening to you, but you can control how you react to what is happening around you. You can be the peace and love you deserve, constantly, not just sometimes. From the dark places I have been in my life to where I am now, it has been my mission to create lives that will know the importance of fueling their souls and allowing them to flourish. This world needs them to be who they were intended to be, we often get lost in this world and lose sight of what is most important; to love and to be loved without conditions.
