I am a stay at home mommy with a busy hubby. My kids are 7, 4 and 2 years olds. Hubby works a full week at the office. Work from home perks are long gone. So I am home with the kids almost all day. It’s not easy, distance learning and then homework, Arabic classes, music class, online programs for school, and then the two toddlers. It’s not easy...yes I repeat it’s tough.
So to keep them occupied I have a box of toys/ craft items I am recycling from their old stuff with new packaging 😆 (mom wins)! Whenever things get out of control I tell them I am going into the secret room (guest room downstairs) to see if they deserve to earn a reward. It could be on behavior, on manners, on being helpful and completing tasks. Everyone gets on their best behavior 🥰
However when hubby is home with us we take advantage of his presence 🥰, we try new things. We have done picnic in the park, a family photoshoot in our pajamas lol, a nature walk picking up and throwing away trash that people leave behind, a painting competition, face paint challenge while blind folded, backyard camping, fashion show, a family award ceremony, daddy daughter baking “nailed it”, make YouTube videos for our channel, create a maze using colored masking tape, build a pillow and blanket fort, and so much more.
This story is from the time when the girls wanted to experience a restaurant at home I love their idea sooo here I present you “The Z restaurant!!” We let the girls be in charge completely and we sat down to enjoy the sun!
My girls love to cook and bake. So they made their favorite sandwiches. Here is the recipe:
Chicken sandwich
Ingredients:
Slices of bread- 6
Boiled chicken- 2 cups
Mayonnaise- 2tbsp
Butter- 1tbsp
Salt and pepper to taste.
Directions: Shred the boiled chicken, add mayonnaise and butter, now mix well add salt and pepper and spread it on the bread slices. Now cut at 90 degree angle and serve cold.
They also served some peas,
Recipe:
Frozen peas- 1 cup
Butter- 1 tbsp
Cumin seeds- 1/3 tsp
Cajun spice- 1/3 tsp
Salt and pepper- to taste
Melt the butter in a pan, now add the cumin seeds, once they start to make noise add the peas. Mix it well and now add the spices. Cover and Cook for 5 minutes. Serve warm.
And mashed potatoes:
Recipe:
Two boiled potatoes
1 tbsp butter
1/4 cup milk
Salt and pepper to taste.
Mash the potatoes well, add above mentioned ingredients, Mix it well and serve.
The chicken sandwiches are what my girls love to make, now I had some boiled chicken in the fridge from yesterday and zoha decided to make sandwiches so basically that’s what was on the menu at their backyard restaurant. The kids wanted to be in charge completely and we loved it.
Owner/ Chef: Zoha
Server/ greeter: Zyva
Mess maker: Zayd 🤪
We had an amazing time ❤️!!
We set up the backyard, with a small table, some chairs and flowers- the kids were ready to welcome us to the Z restaurant. The reception girl was my 4 year old and server was the big sister, baby brother was only there to add mess to our day lol
These sandwiches are my comfort food growing up and now they are becoming my kids favorite as well. Do check out my other stories and enjoy my parenting and home making journey.
Thank you for reading 😊.
