THE STORY OF US

MY SISTER WAS MY BEST FRIEND

By Henry LucyPublished 12 months ago 3 min read
"The good times we shared together

I still remember my sisters and I went swimming. I was only six years old,on that day the excitement and joy that filled our hearts still etched in my memory up until now. We heard splendid moments of joy and the echoes of our laughter is still fresh inside of me, and I remember we stole everyone's attention.

As I grew older, I became my sister partner in crime, my confidante, and my best friend. We shared a room, and our late night conversations would often leave us giggling and snickering until our parents would shout at us, "Girls, go to sleep!"
We often plan ahead of Christmas there by saving money together to buy stuff for Christmas.

Our childhood was filled with adventure, laughter and mischief. We would spend hours playing and preparing ingredients for cooking, creating our own stories and putting on shows for our family. My sister was always the star, with her bright smile and infectious energy. I was the director, making sure everything went according to plan.

As we entered our teenage years, our bond only grew stronger. We would share our deepest secrets, support each other through thick and thin and encourage each other to pursue our passions.

Louis was the one who pushed me to further my education, even when I was too afraid to embark on a school journey. And I was the one who helped her prepare for her first trip to my aunt's place.I was packing up her bags and going to the market to get what she needed for her trip .

But life had other plans. Louise fell ill during my second year in university, and everything changed. The vibrant, energetic girl who had always been by my side was now confined to a hospital bed, fighting for her life .

I remember the countless hours I spent by her side, holding her hand and talking to her even when she couldn't respond. I remember the pain, the fear and the helplessness that threatened to consume me. But most of all, I remember the strength and resilience that Louise showed during those darkest days she fought so hard to live .

Even in her weakness, she continued to inspire me, to encourage me and to remind me of the importance of living life to the fullest. She would often whisper words of encouragement, telling me to stay strong, to pursue my dreams and to never give up.

And when she finally passed away , I was with her. I covered her eyes and a part of me felt dieing with her. The pain was overwhelming and I didn't know how I would go on without my sister. She was my best friend, my companion and a story listener.

But as I look back on our story, I realize that Louise's legacy lives on through me because she was an amazing being. Her memory continues to inspire me, to motivate me and to remind me of the power of love, laughter and adventure. And even though she's no longer here with me physically, I know that she'll always be with me in spirit, guiding me, supporting me and cheering me on every step of the way.

As I navigate the ups and downs of the life of me and my sister, I carry Louis's memory with me, and it gives me the strength to keep going. I know that she would want me to be happy, to pursue my passions and to live life to the fullest. And that's exactly what I plan to do.

Rest in peace, dear sister. Your memory will live on in my heart forever.
