This morning I had a weird talk with my friend’s mom.
I spent the night over Aaron’s house last night as my family had left me by myself to go to Disneyland in Anaheim, California. I had a lot of money with me as I had just gotten back from my job working at a fair in Massachusetts for the week, so I was going to be ok. In fact, I was going to be more than ok. I had the intention of spending the entire bundle I had made that week, and it was a lot. I was almost six-hundred dollars.
When I got to Aaron’s that morning, the ritualistic day-opening Grand Theft Auto II explosion fest properly initiated the day, and continued until our thumbs hurt.
We went down to the bridge where we could flip into the water from the walkway next to the road. Nick and Joe met us down there and we stayed in that spot for the next big chunk of the day, climbing up to the road and throwing ourselves off the top of the railing. Basically, a perfect day. I had almost forgot that I had a girlfriend.
We made it back to Aaron’s house and had dinner. It was a long day and we had more ahead of us. We are ready to hit up Livermore Falls tomorrow. They have a rope swing hanging from a trestle and it’s a little scary.
I know it’s the summer but it was cold tonight. I slept in his bed for the first and only time that I have ever stayed over. I usually end up on the floor or make it downstairs on the couch.
Aaron’s room is really cool because not only does he have a computer that’s connected to the internet, but he also has a phone. I called my girlfriend because we also plan on driving down to Peterborough tomorrow if not sooner.
I told her how much I missed her, and that I loved her and told her all the plans I had for her for my two weeks without my family, while trying not to wake anyone up under the pillow.
I passed out woke up and had met Aaron mom downstairs the next morning. She stopped me and asked me what I was doing with her son last night. I wasn’t sure what she was talking about so I answered ‘Video games”.
She has been looking at me funny all morning.

I got up this morning and went to work. I open the store so I need to be there early and on time. I went through the sales to see where we are with sales, and where we need to be. I’ve had Trafton and Abby working at 8pm today, so we should be able to get a lot done.
We had a few big parties that wanted to go down the river. It kept Abby busy going back and forth in the vans all day. Other than that, it was pretty slow. As soon as the kayaks and canoes starting to come in, I was shutting down the store. Aaron was outside with his friends heading home on their skateboards as I was taking the rental sign down.
One of his friends Tom had spent the night. He has been over before and he’s usually pleasant.
However, last night I feel I may have learned something about my son.
I woke up late to use the bathroom. As I walked by, I could hear a voice. As I got closer to Aaron’s room, I realized I could hear Tom talking. I got closer and I saw Tom was in bed with Aaron. As I figured out what the sleeping arraignments were Tom’s voice became clear and I heard him say “I love you”.
I quickly turned away in shock and went back to bed, wondering what the heck I just heard. I thought I would just ask him when I next saw him. He was here for a week, so there was no need to jump to conclusions. I may not have heard him correctly, anyway. I tried not worry.
I asked him this morning what they were up to and now I am even more concerned, because he answered “video games”.

Tom was staying at his friends Aaron’s house for the next two weeks. His mother and her boyfriend had left for California to have fun at the Disneyland in Anaheim.
While Tom didn’t go, he wasn’t too bothered. He had worked the week before at a Fair in Massachusetts. He has made close to six-hundred dollars, and he intended on spending it all.
Aaron’s mother Debbie had already opened the store Ski Fanatics. Traft and Abby were working with her today, Abby being the driver for the vans of people who wanted to travel down the river in a kayak or canoe that day.
While the store was in its normal operations, Aaron and Tom decided to play video games for an extended length of time. After they had become bored of this, they took their skateboards to the bridge, for some summertime swimming. On the way there they pass Ski Fanatics.
Tom and Aaron meet up with Joe and Nick while at their favorite spot. They spent most of day climbing up to the road, only to flip over the railing and back into the water.
The water started to become cold, so Tom and Aaron parted ways with Nick and Joe, and headed back to Aaron’s house on their skateboards.
Debbie saw Tom and Aaron heading back to her house while closing up the shop.
Arron and Tom ate before everyone else and retreated back to Aarons room for more video games.
Debbie came back home from work and went into her routine for settling in for the night.
Aaron was the first one to fall asleep. While he was out, Tom had decided to call his girlfriend from Peterborough. He crawled under the pillow, under the covers next to Aaron in his bed, as to keep quiet.
Debbie had been asleep for a little while and had woken up to use the bathroom. On the way there she had passed Aaron’s room. She heard a voice coming from his room and decided to look. She saw Tom in the same bed as Aaron, under the covers and under the pillow, but her peering into the matter was abruptly ended when she heard Tom say ‘I love you”.
Not knowing what to think she went back to bed and put it out of her mind for the night and decided to ask Tom again in the morning
Tom hung up the phone and went to sleep.
Debbie ran into Tom in the morning and asked him about what happened between him and her son the night before. Tom was confused and answered “video games” as he had no clue what she was referring to.
Concerned, Debbie went to work without getting the answers she wanted.
