In the world of plush toys, one name stands out for its irresistible charm and quirky designs, Jellycat. Known for their soft, cuddly creatures and whimsical designs, Jellycat has transformed from a small London-based company into a globally recognized brand. The rise in its popularity is a story of clever branding, a unique product offering, and strategic expansion.

Jellycat was founded in 1999 in London, born out of a desire to create plush toys that were different from the traditional teddy bears. Unlike their conventional counterparts, Jellycat’s stuffed animals were designed to be both stylish and quirky, featuring unusual characters like Bashful Bunny, Amuseable Avocado, and Soft Toy Dragons. These designs were a breath of fresh air compared to the standard, often generic, stuffed animals found on store shelves.

The company's evolving strategies and designs have made the brand appealing for adults as well. Introducing plush toys that were not just cute, but had their own personalities. They stood out due to their quirky names, soft fabrics, and playful, often whimsical designs. Whether it was a fluffy fox with a mischievous look or a colorful cat with exaggerated features, Jellycat stuffed animals offered something new—appealing to kids, collectors, and adults looking for fun and unique decor. Adults are doing secret santa but with only Jellycats. The stuffed bunny was the go to gift for newborns. The amusables collection with whimsical fruits, vegetables and plants is a huge appeal to young adults. A bowl of oats with blueberries, an avocado, hard boiled eggs, sports, toast, rainbows, campfire, badmitton, a variety of plants, coffee and hot chocolate, croissants, baguettes and the list goes on and on. They also have bags and charms, personalized items and baby books. The resale value is also a reason to get yourself a Jellycat because they discontinue the items making the value of them go up.

Among the places where Jellycat’s magic truly comes alive is New York City, where the Jellycat store offers an enchanting experience for both fans and newcomers alike. Jellycat's store is inside FAO Schwartz and you can walk in and shop the store BUT if you want the 'cooking up the product, getting special stickers and packaging along with a friendly entertaining staff worker giving you a little show' treatment (click here to see a video on tik tok experience in store), you need to make a reservation. The store is super cute and lively with beautiful colors and ambience.

Now the purchase price points are steep, some would say. Jellycat toys are priced higher than other plush toys, but some reviews say they believe the cost is justified due to the quality and design of the toys, the nostalgia it brings and the creativity. Many people feel the toys are worth every penny, considering the long-lasting value and comfort they offer. I'd also add that because both adults and kids love Jellycat items, it's a better bargain then items that are only geared towards kids. Both parents and kids can appreciate and enjoy their Jellycat toys together.

I think Jellycat is here to stay. They have the creative push to keep evolving and who doesn't love these cute little faces on their products. They're cozy, whimsical designs and materials just make you smile. They have a vast variety of collections to choose from and are collectors items. I've seen people all over social media traveling to different stores searching for Jellycats.

Happy Jellycat'ing!
