The Prize

The day was a calm day at the park for a nice and quiet time to think without any interruptions. The wind was gently blowing while the birds were steadily chirping and singing in the trees.

Always a big thinker, Mikey loved having his quiet time alone at the park. Nobody ever seemed to bother him maybe because his non threatening handsome look, or because he was just sitting alone minding his own business. His bald head and muscular figure matched with his thin mustache didn’t seem to be very threatening. People who passed by just minded thier own business.

Digging through his backpack Mikey pulls out a physics book, a medical book about how diseases affect the body, a laws of attraction book, calculus books, and a little black notebook he named “The Prize”. The Prize was not just any ordinary notebook. This book contained Mikeys secrets that nobody knew about. His plan was big considering the type of person he is known to be. Reading physics and calculus was a way for him to understand about the laws of life and predictions we can make by understanding the particles around us. Reading the laws of attraction book helps him learn about how life can answer us by granting us the things we want and need through a belief system. The Medical book of how diseases affect the body helps him learn about a disease his mom is struggling with called C.O.P.D (chronic obstructive pulminary disorder). This disease is known to be progressive and killing its victims without any mercy.

The Prize was Mikeys solution. If anyone can guess what he writes in the little black book it would probably be a solution comprised from the books he is studying to help his mom with her disease. But nobody knows. This book is a secrete that not even his mom knew and they are really close to each other. They are so close he would do anything for her even if it takes risking his own life. This is probably what makes The Prize so powerful.

After his time reading and studying at the park, Mikey decided to take a brief walk to the store since his house is right across the street and the store is only one block away. He put his books into his backpack, dropped his backpack off at home, and starts walking to the minimart. While walking, he decides to go through his phone to check his Publishers Clearing House App and see if he is the winner of the grand prize. If he wins the grand prize he can buy his mom the lungs she needs if she has to go to surgery in the future. Everytime he checks it’s always sad to see that he is never the winner. Well, at least he can check his lottery numbers at the store and keep continuing to try to win. After crossing the street Mikey heads into the store to ask the cashier to Check and see if he has the winning numbers. “Hi Mikey” Says David who was the cashier at the mini mart. Mikey says, “Hey Dave, please tell me I’m a millionaire” as Dave checks he tells Mikey, “Not this time buddy, maybe next time” Mikey looks at him with total confusion like he really thought he was going to win. “Thank You” says Mikey as he heads out the door. Walking with frustration Mikey keeps telling himself “Physics says life has meaning and there are laws that govern everything” Why can’t the desire to win money for a helpful cause be part of the law that helps you win that money?” The laws of attraction states that if you have a desire and feel that desire in your heart it will come true. Sometimes he gets so frustrated because everything the books say never come true, but it sounds so good.

Here is the big secret why Mikey gets so frustrated. Do to what he reads and notes he puts in The Prize, he writes down numbers that have to do with the things he is doing. The pages in the book he reads and the chapter he is on including the time will be the numbers for his lottery. All his beliefs come from his physics book along with The Laws Of Attraction book. He believes that if you want something so bad you can get it but you have to put in the dirty work. His studying and note taking are the dirty work. Just as it says in Albert Einstein’s quote,”In the middle of difficulty lies opportunity” The difficulty is the dirty work, the opportunity is the result. He pictures himself being the winner to either PCH or the lottery. If life has meaning then his wants and desires have to be answered.

As Mikey starts walking he crosses the street in an angry manner not paying attention to where he going and walks into the path of a person who riding a motorcycle. Not being able to see him, the motorcycle skids trying to stop and does a fishtail as the left handlebar of the motorcycle hits Mikey in the chest tossing him against a tree. As he lands he hears a bone crushing sound and knocks out do you the force of the hit.

Mikey later wakes up in the hospital with his mom standing right beside him. He tells his mom “I don’t remember anything” his mom, who goes by the name Linda tells him “you were hit by a motorcycle”. “What happened to the man riding the motorcycle” says Mikey”. He is ok but he want to talk to you so he gave me his number and wants you to call him”. “Also you broke your collar bone” Mikey retorts “yes I sort of feel that, I wish I can remember what happened” Linda states” you were crossing the street and ran into a motorcycle but I’m glad your ok”. Mikey yells “that man should of been paying attention to the road” Linda whispers” I don’t know whose fault it is but just call the man because his is so eager to speak with you, and now that I know your ok, I’m going to go back home to get some rest, here is his number”.

Mikey can see his mom struggling to breath and wished she had stayed home, but he knows she was only there to make sure he was ok. He knows his mom needs rest but he was happy to see her. Mikey struggles to remember what happened. He knows he went to check his lotto numbers he configured out mathematically using what he learned reading his books. He wants to use those numbers again because his belief takes him there. His belief is knowing that life has laws with feelings and desires, this is how life knows what you want by sensing your feelings when things happen out of your control. Free will don’t control everything. He reaches into his pocket and finds the lottery ticket that reads 03, 05, 09, 11, 16, and 35. He puts the lottery ticket back in his pocket while the doctor gives him his paperwork and tells him he is ok to leave.

As Mikey leaves the hospital he looks at all his paperwork the Doctor gave him. He finds a bench outside so he can read these papers, call the man that hit him, and find a ride home. His mom probably didn’t realize he didn’t have a ride home which is probably do to the medications she takes. Because of her condition, he really didn’t want to bother her, he knows she needs rest. Mikey starts reading the hospital papers where it states the address and time the accident happened. The paper read, hit by a motorcycle on 309 E. “K”Street at 4:35 pm exact. Breaking clavicle bone in the process. He reads the rest and puts the paper away so he can call the man who ran him over. He gets his phone out of his pocket along with the phone number and dials it. The man goes by the name of Billy.

Billy answers the phone saying “hey Micheal where can we meet” Mikey is thinking in an awkward way “how does this man know who I am, maybe my mom also gave him my number” “Ummm I’m at Mercy Hospital”, can You meet me in the back parking lot by the bus bench?” “Yes On my way” says Billy in a way like he is in a hurry and the phone hangs up. Mikey was surprised on many levels because he was thinking, why is the man who hit me in a hurry to come visit? There is only one way to know, he says to himself as he waits for Billy to show up.

As Mikey is waiting he notices a man with long hair and a thin figure come walking towards him with a brief case in his hand. Mikey stands to greet him as Billy states,” sit back down “in a authoritative tone. As Mikey sits he stares at Billy trying to figure out his motive, he thought, maybe he is here to offer his condolences but why the brief case? Billy sits next to Mikey and tells him “sorry for hitting you”. Mikey replies “It’s my fault too so I’m also sorry”. Billy replies “you don’t have to be sorry your the one with a broken collar bone” Billy continues “I need you to be quiet about this because I’m a well respected man and I don’t want any type of lawsuit ruining my reputation.” Billy states”I’m being voted to be a senator soon so I have a deal, I will pay for your hospital bill and give you $20,000 to keep your mouth shut, actually I already paid for your hospital bill and here is the money, but first sign this contract”. Mikey didn’t even read the contract, he just signed the paperwork and took the brief case like he was in doubt of what this man had said. The man said thank you and walked away. Mikey sits and thinks as he looks at the briefcase not sure what’s inside. He lies the briefcase on his lap and opens it and saw a row of $100 dollar bills. Mikey closes the briefcase as the feeling of despair left his mind. Mikey thought about all his studying on how he was trying to win money for his mom if she decides to have surgery. All that work he put in with physics and the laws of attraction and all the notes he made to help him win money for his mom was a waste of time. He put so much time into thinking and believing that his studies will get him the money. All that time he wasted thinking the laws of attraction and the laws of physics relating to the laws of life were real. Being dazed, he calls for a taxi ride home. As he gets home, he walks through the door and grabs his back pack and takes out the little black book. Before he throws it away he flips through the pages and notices a little process he learned. He learned that you can turn numbers into letters or vice versa for writing and understanding private codes. The next page shows numbers he wrote down for the lottery. These numbers come from one of the pages he was on learning about laws of attraction. Because of laws of attraction, we can turn our wants and needs into something real by believing it is real. The physics page he was on says that the laws of physics has to do with the laws of life that can partially be predicted. Mikey read the numbers again 03, 05, 09, 11, 16, 35 and realized something subtle. The numbers 16 and 35 can be the military time for 04:35 which was the time he got hit by the motorcycle. Then he laughed with disbelief and told himself, no way this was just a coincidence. But through his curiosity he went further, as he looked at the numbers he was hit with a good dose of reality. 03 and 09 of the lottery numbers were part of the address where he was hit. 05 and 11 was the name of the street that turns into the letters E and K. 16 and 35 was the time he got hit in military time. As the papers from the hospital say, He was hit by a motorcycle on 309 E K st at 04:35 pm. Mikey starts crying saying to himself that the information he learned from the books he read were not a waste of time. This information led him to believe that he can help his mom. He believed so much that the laws of physics and laws of attraction will work for him that it actually did. Life actually answered Mikey, but It didn’t answer him the way he thought it would. Physics helped answer his belief by transmitting the energy of his moms disease into himself by believing he can help her. For him to help her the energy of her pain from the disease has to be equalized with another pain. That pain was him being hit and breaking his clavicle absorbing the pain his mom had from her disease. So part of his desire to help his mom came in a different way. That strong desire that he had was so powerful that he believed with all his might that he can help his mom. The laws of attraction gave him a helping hand. Now Mikey can take this money and put it into A savings account. When it comes for the time for a lung replacement surgery for his mom, he can add the $20,000 to the insurance cost so the surgery can be possible. Mikey steps outside, looks up at the sky and thanks life for the helpful hand.
