The Little Rock

Meet Little Rock. The smallest of rocks in his Family of Rocks. Little Rock loved to play on warm sunny days with his Family of Rocks. Little Rock had four bigger brother rocks and 2 bigger sister rocks.

Little Rock always thought, "Why couldn't I be like the Bigger Rocks!?" Little Rock realized he looked different from the rest of the rocks. He had a jagged top and flat smooth bottom. Light in weight and looked like a triangle shape.

The Bigger rocks were smoother, bulky and strong. Heavy in weight and more rounder in shape. Little Rock was confused why he didn't look like the bigger rocks in his family of rocks.

One warm and sunny Autumn day a Human family decided to go for a hike and play. The Family of Rocks were always excited to see a Human family! Yay! But not Little Rock. Human families loved to play with rocks! But usually the bigger rocks of the family of rocks.

The Human family approached the Family of Rocks with smiles and laughter! They reached for the bigger rocks and proudly held them in their hand. "Look at this big rock!", one of the children exclaimed. The youngest of the Human family did something different! She grabbed Little Rock and placed him in her pocket. "You're my new friend and I'll call you Little Rock", she said with joy.

The Human Family started to walk towards a nearby small pond as fast as a rocket. The Family of Rocks weren't sure what was going on because usually they are picked up and dropped or thrown. The Human Family arrives at the small pond ready to throw their rocks.

The pond was shallow and small enough to skip rocks to the other side. Great for skipping rocks! One of the children from the Human Family steps up and throws his big rock with all his might! Oh no! The bigger rocks just flop and go out of sight beneath the water deep.

Then the young girl who found Little Rock takes her rock and throws him with all her might! "Wow!", everyone shouted. To everyone's surprise the little rock flew and skipped all the way to the other side! Little Rock yelled, "That was so awesome!" But then he noticed his brother and sister rocks not able to get across.

That's when Little rock realized we're all unique in our own very special way. And looking different... is OKAY! :)

Everyone has their purpose in life and their special calling. And sometimes you go through life feeling a little left out.

But have no doubt! For when you least expect it... you'll realize you're as special as everyone else.

Little Rock's brothers and sisters were so happy that he found his purpose in the Family of Rocks. And with a wave and a big smile, a special goodbye to you from Little Rock.
