The Gift of Freedom B and Her Chick
How a Kind Heart Restored the Wings of Two Captive Birds

The Gift of Freedom: B and Her Chick
BY:Ubaid
Once upon a time, on a tall, flourishing apple tree, lived a pigeon named B with her tiny little chick. Their lives were calm and peaceful, surrounded by the soothing sounds of nature. Every day, they enjoyed the cool breeze, the gentle sway of the branches, and the warmth of the sun. Life, for them, was simple and happy.
One sunny morning, as B was sitting in her nest with her chick, she noticed a group of people walking along the road near the tree. These people were bird catchers, known for capturing innocent birds. B felt a shiver of fear run down her spine. Before she could react, a stone from a slingshot struck her, and she fell to the ground, stunned and frightened.
When B regained her senses, she realized she was no longer in her familiar tree. Instead, she was in a small cage. Around her were two bowls—one filled with water and the other with millet. There was a tiny swing and a soft, warm blanket. Though the surroundings seemed comfortable, B immediately understood the harsh truth: she and her chick had been taken from their freedom and were now among the unfortunate birds whose liberty had been stolen.
B and her chick felt sorrow overwhelm them. They sat quietly, refusing food, lost in sadness. Their hearts longed for the open skies, the rustling leaves, and the simple joys of flying freely in the orchard. Days passed in gloom, and the tiny cage felt heavier with each passing moment.
The bird catcher had sold them to a small shop, a place filled with cages and chirping birds. One day, a kind-hearted child came to the shop with his father. The child wandered among the cages, observing the birds carefully. When he reached the cage where B and her chick were kept, he paused and looked at them with compassion. He could see the sadness in their eyes and immediately sensed their desire for freedom.
The child spoke softly to his father, explaining how the birds longed to fly again. The father, seeing the truth in his son’s words and noticing the birds’ sorrow, nodded in agreement. With a gentle smile, he purchased B and her chick, intending to give them the gift of freedom.
At home, the father opened the cage and let B and her chick fly out into the garden. The birds spread their wings and soared into the sky, feeling the joy of freedom once again. B could hardly contain her happiness. She realized that this precious freedom had been granted to her because of the child’s kindness and pure heart. It was a moment she would never forget.
B decided that this garden, where she had been released, was perfect. Safe and beautiful, it seemed like an ideal place to build a nest and raise her chick. She chose to make her home in the child’s garden, where she could live freely while being close to the boy who had given her a second chance.
From that day onward, B and her chick thrived in the garden. They flew freely, chirped happily, and explored every corner of their new home. The child would often scatter grains for them, and in return, the birds would entertain him with their playful flights and cheerful coos. A beautiful friendship blossomed between the child and the birds—a bond born from kindness, compassion, and respect for life.
B often thought about how a small act of goodness had changed their lives. The child had shown her that even little gestures could have enormous impact. The bird’s heart was filled with gratitude and love, not just for the boy but for the freedom that had been restored to them.
The garden became a sanctuary, not just for B and her chick, but for a spirit of harmony between humans and nature. The pigeons’ story reminded everyone that freedom is precious, and acts of kindness, no matter how small, can create lasting happiness. B and her chick, once trapped and sad, were now symbols of hope and joy, flying gracefully under the sun, living the life they were always meant to live.
And so, B and her chick continued to thrive in the child’s garden, enjoying the simple pleasures of life—freedom, companionship, and the gentle care of a heart that had chosen to do good. The boy, too, learned that helping others, even in small ways, could bring immense joy and fulfillment. Their story became a living testament to the power of compassion and the beauty of freedom, teaching that love and kindness are never wasted—they always find their way home.
