The Consequences of Alcohol Use Among Adolescents
Does your teenage kid have a problem with alcohol?
Alcohol consumption among adolescents has recently become, unfortunately, one of the most common negative phenomena, the number of cases in which young people are involved in scandals, due to excessive consumption, being in a continuous and worrying increase. Besides illegal drug use, alcohol is the second leading cause of death among adolescents with behavioral disorders and beyond.
For example, the most prone to alcohol use are adolescents with such disorders, who eventually end up using drugs if they do not already alternate these two imminent dangers for their lives. Even so, we can't just stick to this idea, according to which only troubled teenagers are prone to excessive alcohol consumption, but we must mention that a good part of young people who do not have any problems, on the contrary, has all the conditions of normal and beautiful life at the same time, they consume alcohol in very large quantities, the reason being, of course, their boundless and uncontrollable terrifyingness both by their parents and by the rest of the adults around them.
Alcohol consumption among teenagers is even one of the biggest problems that parents may face at some point. Not only does alcohol have a negative influence on their development, but their behavior changes as adolescents become more aggressive and recalcitrant with everyone around them, even when they are not under the influence of alcohol.
Of course, alcohol consumption is illegal until the age of 18, and yet some parents allow teenagers to drink a beer or a glass of wine with their families.
There is nothing wrong with this, as long as there has been an education in this regard, and the young man knows when to stop and, implicitly, what are the consequences he will suffer if it happens otherwise than he was allowed. The mentality of the parents again may or may not negatively influence the teenager's life.
For example, if parents forbid their child to drink or at least taste an alcoholic beverage, then we are more than certain that the adolescent will at some point end up consuming more alcohol than would be indicated. It is possible to make it a habit. The problem comes right here because we can't say that if a teenager has consumed alcohol in large quantities twice as much, he will certainly continue to do so in adult life.
However, parents should be aware that all adolescents, as a rule, have consumed or will consume large amounts of alcohol, but this should not give them the certainty that they would make an unhealthy habit out of it. Finally, we will refer strictly to those young people who drink frequently, respectively several times a week, and we will not talk about people who consume alcohol in very small quantities, but about those who are addicted or about to reach this stage more than dangerous.
Finally, the consumption of alcohol among adolescents not only puts their health in danger but, to some extent, excludes them from society and the school environment. Or maybe not: most teenagers end up consuming alcohol in extremely large quantities because of their entourage, in other words, even because of their classmates or high school classmates. We know very well that they want to integrate into a certain group or collective formed either around the school or around the entourage.
The only reason that brings them together is, of course, alcohol consumption. Even so, the big problems come when these young people cause, for example, damage to that place, injure other people, or even injure themselves, not necessarily taking into account the fact that they have completely lost their minds.
Such cases are innumerable and, unfortunately, more and more frequent. Usually, teenagers who consume alcohol and create problems do so out of terribleness, not out of a so-called need to forget, for example, family problems.
At the other extreme are teenagers who have family problems or have chosen the wrong path. They consume alcohol, not necessarily out of terror, but rather because of indifference, they have gained over time to themselves.
Psychologists warn that this phenomenon has begun to have alarming and worrying levels at the same time, especially since even 10-year-old children have ended up in an alcoholic coma. At the same time, psychologists say that alcohol consumption among teenagers has largely become as current as it is normal.
Normality, of course, only occurs when a very large number of people do a certain thing. In this case, normalcy appeared because most teenagers ended up consuming alcohol, although the law does not allow them. The law should do something against traders, or against the owners of bars or shops that sell alcohol to minors.
This is not about the fact that teenagers still drink alcohol from time to time, but about the fact that they do it quite often and in large quantities.
