Story Time With Winter Madison

Hello readers! Join me on Story Time With Winter Madison as we read stories together. Story Time is a time to relax, snuggle with your favorite stuffed buddy or blanket, and listen to stories read by Winter Madison. In this episode of storytime, we followed a little monster as he is having quite a bad day and is very grumpy. The little monster learns that no matter what, his mommy monster loves him anyway, even after he was a very grumpy little monster!

After each Story Time episode, we will have what's called Circle Time! Circle Time will focus on the books we read during our Storytime episode. A Circle Time will be posted for each episode of Story Time. During our Circle Time, we discuss topics such as self-esteem, trying new things, just for fun topics, and many more! Be sure to tune in to our Circle Time after each Storytime episode. (click the underlined words above to take you straight to this week's Storytime and circle time!)

Circle Time Notes:

Readers, have you ever felt grumpy? Can you relate to this story? Little Monster in the book felt bad moody all day, and was being a very difficult little monster! His mommy monster was having a bad day too, but in the end, they hugged it out and little monster learned his mommy loved him no matter what, good or bad day. Little Monster apologized to his mommy at the end of the day, because he felt ad for the way he acted all day. He also explained to his mommy why he was feeling this way the best he could. Readers, it is important for you to know that no matter what mood you are in, or if you have a bad day, you are loved.

In our story, Little Monster goes through a series of events all day, and as we saw, his day was not very good. In the end, he makes it right, and he and his mommy have a good end to the day. Do you remember what Little Monster did to make things right in the end? Let's go over them:

1. Little Monster apologized. Little Monster apologized to his mommy for being impolite and grumpy. He felt bad for his actions that day and said he was sorry to his mommy monster. It is important to give a meaningful apology when we are impolite or hurt someone's feelings.

2. Little Monster explained why he acted that way. Little Monster explained to his mommy monster why he acted the way he did that day. Little Monster was experiencing a mix of emotions, and he explained it to his mommy monster the best he could. It's important to talk it out, even if we are feeling a lot of big feelings at one time. Talking it out can turn you from a grumpy little monster back to a happy one!

3. Little Monster and his Mommy hugged it out. Little Monster and his mommy monster hugged it out in the end. As we talked about, sometimes you have a mix of emotions you may be feeling. Sometimes a big hug can help!

4. Little Monster expressed his concern with mommy monster. Little Monster was afraid that because of the way he acted, his mommy would want another little monster instead of him! His mommy monster explained that just because they had a bad day, does not mean they love each other any less.

5. Little Monster cleaned up the mess he made. Little Monster also helped make things right by cleaning up the big mess that he made when he was all bad moody! It is important to try to make things right and to always clean up after ourselves.

6. Love won. In the end, the love that little monster and mommy monster shared won over the grumpy feelings and bad day. Not all days will be happy ones readers, and that's ok! Little monsters like you are people too, and sometimes you will feel down, sad, or grumpy. The important thing to remember is that you are loved no matter what!

Word of the day! The word of the day is "grumpy". How many times does the word "grumpy" appear in the book? What do YOU think the word "grumpy" means? Can you think of similar words that also mean the same thing? Get your parent's help with clicking the underlined word to learn what the word "grumpy" means. Talk about the word of the day and how it relates to our story.

Let's make it fun! Let's put on our imagination hats! Imagine that you are a monster! Imagine that you are just not having a good day like little monster in the book. How would you handle it? Would you react differently than little monster did? Draw or wrote a story about your ideas and draw what you would look like as a monster. Would you be purple with blue polka dots too? What colors would your monster family be? Remember this is YOUR imagination! You can make your picture or story as creative and silly as you'd like!

Readers, we have come to the end of our circle time. Before we go, I'd like all of my readers to wrap their arms around themselves and give themselves a big, monster, hug! Take a deep breath, and let it out. Repeat after me: "I love me!" Let's do that again readers! Wrap your arms around yourself and squeeze really tight! Take a deep breath and let it out slowly. Then repeat after me: "I love me!"

All of my readers can post their pictures and stories (with an adult's help!) on my official author's page on Facebook (Winter Madison), on Instagram (winter_the_author), and twitter (winter_author).

Readers, do you have the book, "Good Day or Bad Day, I Love You Anyway", at home? Whenever we read a story during Storytime you can always follow along!

I hope my readers can join me on our newest adventure as we read "Good Day or Bad Day, I Love You Anyway" followed by Circle Time where we follow up with lessons from what we read. I look forward to reading with you!
