Stepping Into Black Sands
The Black-Owned and Operated Entertainment Company That Has Already Sparked the Creative Revolution

There are times in this world when people seem to come together due to destinies being intertwined, in order to focus on a bigger picture and bring it into reality. These souls meet by what seems at first glance to be happenstance but then is revealed in its entirety to be fate.
Black Sands is the offspring of one of those fates. Black Sands Productions was started by husband-and-wife super-team Manuel and Geiszel Godoy, who are actually two Army veterans as well. The company has more than proven itself to have the structure, discipline, focus, and support to become the next greatest entertainment studio… even surpassing Disney. Black Sands prides itself on bringing actual factual black stories created by (you guessed it) black creators to the attention of the masses. These stories are focused on the many events that happened in melanated peoples’ histories, herstories, and theirstories before slavery. This is very important to me and many others because in my own African-American experience growing up, all we were really taught in the public school systems was ‘Roots’. On top of that, the anti-black establishment of capitalism (which does indeed have its roots in slavery- research and see the faces of slave masters on our official currency for reference) had a tendency to allow the Holocaust to overshadow slavery. In my opinion, this happened and continues to happen because the country that we know as the United States of America, still isn’t ready to face the many atrocities it has committed, and sadly continues to perpetrate against black folks. The U.S.A. would first point the finger at others who have committed atrocities, rather than owning up to their own and truly changing for the better.
It is for all of these reasons, and many more that Black Sands Entertainment is the business that deserves to be promoted, shared, supported, and appreciated. Any business that uplifts African-Americans specifically is truly doing God’s work (see the Bible for reference). In a world where we as Black Americans do not get to see much of our history on the big screen (save for slavery), companies like BSP are the ones who can reverse the curse, inspire our people, and uplift the coming generations permanently.
Recently, Black Sands has allowed their content to be sold on Amazon. The following numbers do not lie at all. In the Amazon listing for ‘Black’, ‘YA’, and ‘Teen’ content, Black Sands, The Seven Kingdoms, Vol: 1 hit #1, over major titles like ‘The Hate U Give’ and ‘Children of Blood & Bone’. Black Sands is also at #2 in Action/Adventure, second only to ‘Demon Slayer’, which recently shot up in the rankings. Lastly, in the U.S. Amazon category for ‘Graphic Novels’ Black Sands is currently at #7. Let us keep in mind that, as an independent publishing company, BSP does not have the thousands of dollars a day ready to dole out at any given moment for promotion. It is all done through the massive support the community gives, and through the hearts of those who want to see their African progeny represented accurately in the media. The fact that BSP has done this all independently is amazing, to say the least. What’s more, is that BSP also employs black creators like myself, being that I provide the voice of the protagonist, Ausar, in ‘The Seven Kingdoms’ visual comic. This is deeply personal for me. I hope that this article is chosen to win because Black Sands Productions should get all the acclaim it deserves and is also waiting for both movie and animated show deals to present themselves. By choosing this article to win, it will be a promotion in and of itself. You may follow them on all social media networks, and check out their website here. As somebody greatly affected by ‘The Seven Kingdoms’, I say with my entire heart, that Black Sands Productions is the spark that can and will start the new black renaissance. Thank you for reading.
