Love in the Shadows: Prologue

Adrian Vega and Isla Carter were two souls connected by love but pursued by fate in the center of New York City, where neon lights gleam brighter than the stars.

Adrian was a former covert agent who had to flee after being betrayed. Once a talented hacker, Isla had figured out the wrong code, one that belonged to The Black Serpents, a formidable criminal organization. They shared a fantasy of leaving the world that had condemned them to death.

However, love usually comes with a cost when it is involved with danger.

Running From the Past (Act 1) 📍 The scene is a dilapidated motel outside of the city. In the distance, sirens could be heard.

For six months, Adrian and Isla had been evading capture. There was a shadow of their past in every alley and on every corner of the street. Isla had stolen millions of dollars' worth of data, proof that might bring down the Black Serpents, and Adrian still had a bounty on his head.

Isla traced Adrian's scars with her fingers and whispered, "We can not keep fleeing."

"One last task," Adrian said, "We take them down, disappear forever."

Their plan? Present the FBI with the evidence, expose the syndicate, and then be set free. However, they were both aware that they would never survive because of the Black Serpents.

ACT 2: Love and Bullets

📍 Setting: A high-speed chase through the city, motorcycles roaring, gunfire echoing.

The couple made their way to the safe house, but they were ambushed. Bullets rained as masked assassins attacked.

Adrian fought with fierce precision, his military instincts taking over. Isla hacked into the city’s traffic system, shutting down the roads, causing chaos.

They barely escaped, wounded but alive.

"They're coming faster now," Isla said, pressing a bloodied hand to Adrian’s chest. "We don’t have much time."

ACT 3: The Ultimate Sacrifice

📍 Setting: An abandoned train station, where everything would end.

With the FBI waiting on the other side, Isla transferred the evidence while Adrian held off the Black Serpents. He fought like a man with nothing to lose. But in the end, it was never about survival.

A sniper’s bullet tore through Adrian’s shoulder. More were coming.

He looked at Isla, knowing only one of them could make it out alive.

"You have to go," he gasped.

"No," she sobbed, refusing to leave him behind.

He kissed her forehead, whispering, "You have to live for both of us."

With his last strength, Adrian triggered the explosives he had planted, blowing up the station as Isla disappeared into the night—alive, but shattered.

A year later, in a quiet café in Paris, Isla sat by herself, wearing Adrian's old leather jacket—the only thing she had left of him. The world thought Adrian Vega was dead, but to her, he was alive in every breath she took. One day, a newspaper headline caught her attention: "The Black Serpents Have Fallen—Thanks to an Anonymous Source." A tear ran down her cheek, and then, as if left by a ghost, a folded note appeared on her table: "Some love stories never end. Look for me in the city of lost souls." Her heart stopped; was he still alive? As she turned, a man in a dark hood vanished into the crowd.

Love Never Dies 📍 Epilogue Setting: A year later, in a peaceful café in Paris.

Wearing Adrian's old leather jacket, which was all she had left of him, Isla sat by herself. To her, Adrian Vega lived in every breath she drew, even though the rest of the world thought he was dead.

She noticed a headline in the newspaper:

"Thanks to an Anonymous Source, the Black Serpents Have Fallen."

She let a tear fall down her face.

Then, as though left by a ghost, a folded note slipped onto her table. It said:

"Love stories do not always end. In the city of lost souls, look for me.

Her heart ceased beating. Did he survive?

A man with a dark hood vanished into the crowd as she turned.

She clutched the note, her fingers shaking.

Adrian?

Or simply another specter from their history?

Isla got up, her heart thumping. She had run, grieved, and tried to forget for a year.

She now had a purpose to pursue something once more for the first time in a long time
