During an appearance on Def Poetry Jam, Ye spoke a poem regarding a man paying child support for a child that didn’t belong to him. He says, “Eighteen years/ Eighteen years/ And on the eighteenth birthday he found out it wasn't his!/ Maan! He killed that bitch, they gave him twenty-five years, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yuh-yeah.”

This snippet would eventually find its way on top of the charts a few months later as a part of a verse in the song “Gold Digger” with Jamie Foxx. While the child in a recent video was no more than a few years old, the sentiment remains, without the murder part of course. The duped “father” became irate. After a string of expletives near the entry of the house, the mother in question lobbed back her half-hearted replies knowing she was wrong.

This is a pattern of ill behavior. So-called mothers, but not courageous enough to be moms, string along “baby daddies,” bilking them of their cash. This woman had very little to say to the man who discovered the truth.

In a world of scammers and miscreants, no woman should be able to control a man’s finances, his very life. The system of child payment is completely in disarray. The total injustice is apparent in specific cases like the video.

The man’s rage was justified because he knew he tried to provide for the child, ignorant of the fact the toddler didn’t biologically belong to him.

With the video that illustrated the idea every man should be freed from the fetters of child support for the exact reason these situations occur.

The man’s tears must have resonated with millions of other men caught in a situation like this.

This was how Maury Povich made millions with shows that displayed so many couples hearing those famous five words “You are not the father!” While it may be too late for them to grace the Maury stage and find the DNA results, it’s important for them to realize the courts should recognize men shouldn’t be shackled to payments to children especially if the child is not theirs.

When individual rights fail to be seen by the courts, it’s up to the man to make it plain and simple their livelihoods and lives are on the line.

Footage like this showed a man broken by a system just as cracked. The mindset of the man put out in the few minutes of the clip painted a portrait of the frustration and rage most men who think they’re the dad feel.

If there is to be a seismic shift between the State and the citizen, it should include the laws dictating who should pay for the welfare of children. That is considering both the mother and father pay. It should not be on the dad if he has no clue whether he is the actual paterfamilias. To degrade the man in front of a child not his own added to the flame of injustice meted out to him.

The woman should’ve used her capacity to think to explain that another man was in the picture. She should not have lied. The onus was on her to describe the real sperm donor. Such a video will be only a piece of the puzzle to bring some righteousness to a complicated and difficult situation. It should be used in future cases similar to the one it depicted.

There should be no doubt as to the biological father of a child. Let the courts find a way to free these men from the tyranny of child support payments before this happens again. If the laws are reversed, those chains of bondage may one day fall.
